NO DOG... NO PROBLEM

BJORNSTAD FAMILY Just like the Bjornstad family, not all my clients have animals and that's TOTALLY fine. Dogs are welcomed but not mandatory by any means. This beautiful family bid on a silent auction gift certificate at the Bonny Slopes fundraiser. I'm so glad they took a chance even with a "dog" loving photographer. Their vision was to shoot on the Eastbank Esplanade with the Portland city skyline in the background. Yes, please! A beautiful family & a stunning location. The triplets kept me on my toes that's for sure but a good fart joke and funny faces always win boys over. I'm so pleased with hoe they turned out. What do you think?

4TH OF JULY TIPS & TRICKS

It may seem obvious, but even if your pet is used to being outside, the resulting panic caused by fireworks or other loud noises may make them break their restraint or jump a fence in a terrified attempt to find safety.

1

BASICS Dogs can be startled by the loud noise of fireworks. Once the festivities begin, keep your pet in a safe room where he can feel comfortable. If he is crate trained put him in his crate covered with a blanket to make him feel secure. Take a current photo of all of pets– just in case.

WINDOWS 2

Block outside sights and sounds by lowering the blinds and turning on the television. Play soothing music in the background.

CUDDLES 3

6

If your pet seems overly anxious, spend some time with your pet, speaking soothingly to help them to relax.

7

CONTACT YOUR VET If your pet has historically been anxious on this holiday, or if you have reason to expect potentially harmful reactions, consider behavioral therapy to desensitize your pet and reduce the risk of problems. Some pets may need medication. Consult your veterinarian or a veterinary behaviorist.

HOUSEHOLD PRODUCTS Human products can be dangerous to animals. Avoid spraying your pet with insect repellent and only use special sunscreen that is intended for animal use. Keep your pets away from matches and lighter fluid. They can be extremely irritating to the stomach, lungs and central nervous system, if ingested.

IDENTIFICATION If your pet manages to break loose and become lost, without proper identification it will be that much harder to get them back. Consider fitting your pet with microchip identification, ID tags with their name and your phone number, or both. It is also a good idea to have a recent picture of your pets in case you have to put up signs.

BBQ If you are having a backyard barbecue, you may be tempted to slip some snacks to your pet. But like beer and chocolate, there are other festive foods that could harm your pet. Onions, coffee, avocado, grapes & raisins, salt and yeast dough are all possible hazards for dogs and cats.

8

CAR NEVER leave your pet in your car when it’s warm outside. Vehicle interiors heat up much faster than the air around them, and even a short time in a locked car can be dangerous to pets. WWW.WAGTOMYHEART.COM | 8

WHY A MONTHLY MAGAZINE? Where did this crazy concept come from? By Danyel Rogers

As a business owner in a hectic world you have to become creative in your marketing strategies. Every concept is either overly done or down right boring. Â I needed something fresh that would catch peoples eye. One Monday I did my normal routine of "breaking" for lunch. I jumped in my car laptop bag in hand fully equipped for multitasking. Is it really a lunch break if your still working as you shove food in your mouth? Wait, don't answer that! When your time poor like myself you have to utilize every minute you can. I ordered iced tea, personal pizza, and salad. Who am I kidding. I go to the same restaurant and order the same thing every time. My order automatically starts being prepared once I arrive. I started writing down random things dog loving people in the Portland area might like to know? Local events? Holidays coming up? Perhaps fun photography tips & tricks.

OK, I had the WHAT, but what about the HOW? How do you communicate what you want and still keep your audiences attention? **Wait are you even reading this??comment {Shenanigan} below if you are.** hee hee Now that we know you're still reading let's continue. Blog posts have been done (by myself as well), but how much does the audience really read? Newsletters? Perfect for the recycle bin. Email blasts usually = unsubscribe. Perhaps video is the future of marketing? Possibly, but that's for Future Danyel to figure out. At this point no fresh ideas are coming to me and I've got a full belly. My lunch break quickly comes to an end and time to leave the restaurant. Backpack *check* Purse *check* Phone *check* As I went to leave it comes to me....what about a monthly magazine!?!?! In today's technological world I can embed links to into a digital magazine like videos, websites, etc... Now you are reading it!
