No threat to free parking Free parking is here to stay. Tasman mayor Richard Kempthorne says the council will not touch the free parking policy, which has been credited to a boom in the town’s retail industry. The council is currently trying to trim as much fat from its budget to deal with a debt of more than $150 million. One of the proposed cuts is to its funding of Nelson Tasman Tourism, which markets

around the council changing its policy on free parking as it has been a successful policy for the entire Tasman district. “It has been very important to Richmond and the other towns in the district. A pretty purple day There was plenty of purple on show on Friday, as students from Henley School and many others, kitted up to support Purple Cake Day. Purple Cake Day is a charity event set up by the Kenbe La Charitable Foundation Trust
to support children all over the world so they can receive the education needed to break the poverty cycle and create a better future. Just over $600 was raised from Henley School’s coin trail and mufti day.
