What a mess By Andrew Board Some of the heaviest rainfall in the history of New Zealand has led to damage to more than 100 businesses and homes in Richmond, Hope and Stoke and prompted more than 1500 insurance claims. Many business and home owners spent most of Monday surveying the damage to their properties, including Tasman District and Nelson City councils, which co-own the badly-affected Saxton Stadium. It is the second major flood the region has had in a year and a half and it has been described it as “horrendous” by Tasman mayor Richard Kempthorne. SEE PAGE 2
