Schools targeted by vandals

Several Richmond schools have been targeted by vandals over the summer holidays, leaving principals frustrated at the “acts of stupidity”. Waimea College, Garin College and Salisbury School have been subject to graffiti and attempted arson over the school holidays and the culprits have yet to be caught.
Waimea principal Scott Haines says Waimea College has already been hit three times. “The latest was graffiti on our school gates but we had an attempted arson event some stage between Christmas and New Year’s where a small fire was set up against one of the buildings in the heart of the school, that’s the most concerning of the three.” He says he is really disappointed and frus-

Local riders give rodeo a crack There was plenty to yeehah about at Saturday’s Richmond Rodeo at the Richmond A and P Showgrounds with nine of the 10 cowboys in the open bull ride getting unceremoniously dumped and lots of bucking good action in the bareback and saddle bronc events. But there was much more to the rodeo than dusty cowboys and bucking bulls and broncs.
