Renowned author to visit region
One of the New Zealand’s leading authors will be visiting the region in a book tour spanning Takaka, Motueka and Richmond. Acclaimed author Elizabeth Knox not only received 2019’s Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement for Fiction but is also the winner of the Deutz Medal for Fiction in the 1999 Montana New Zealand Book Awards for her book ‘The Vintner’s Luck.’ Elizabeth is an Arts Foundation Laureate and was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2002. Stellar Saiko strikes for Tasman
Jonty Dine
Tasman United put in another stellar performance on Sunday to dispatch Hawke’s Bay United 3-1 at Saxton Field. Tasman United has been in good shape this year, with Sunday marking the side’s third win from four games in the post-Christmas season. Their latest victory has seen them shoot to fifth place on the National Football League table. Striker Jean-Philippe Saiko’s hot run of form continued as the New Caledonian opened the scoring in spectacular fashion after half an hour. Saiko’s strike from the top of the box gave the hosts a 1-0 advantage heading into the break, and they continued to gain momentum as the game went on. Tasman struck again 15 minutes into the second as Corey Vickers laid it on a platform for Max Winterton, who made no mistake. With the result assured, Saiko inflicted further pain as he netted a second in the 75th. Hawke’s Bay scored a consolation goal on the brink of fulltime, but it was too late. They were well and truly outclassed by the resurgent Tasman side. Next weekend sees Tasman travel across the Cook Strait to take on the second-placed Team Wellington
