PICTURE-WORTHY PANCAKES

Food is about nutrition and taste, but doesn’t it help if it’s Instagramworthy too? With National Flapjack Day coming up March 7, five local eateries’ syrupy stacks are ready for their close-ups:

The Buttered Biscuit Café (700 N. Main St., Bradley Beach, 732.807.4069; thebutteredbiscuitcafe.com) makes each order of flapjacks from scratch and artfully plates them so they’re Instagram-worthy and ready to devour—especially the three-tiered banana walnut pancakes.

Meemom’s (1825 Rte. 35, Wall Township, 732.856.9499: meemoms.com) is a regular finalist in our annual Readers’ Choice Poll thanks to its creative griddle specials. Pancakes range from classic golden to “cinna bun” topped with strawberries and cream cheese glaze to peanut butter whole wheat.

Project Brunch (357 Rte. 9, Manalapan, 732.792.6988; projectbrunch.com) is serious about its pancakes, offering varieties that cater to every eater, from fruit lovers to carnivores to dessert enthusiasts. Can’t decide which to order? Opt for a flight of pancakes and choose your top three styles!

Turning Point (multiple locations; turningpointrestaurants.com) is one of Monmouth’s most popular breakfast spots, and the pancake selection is a big reason why. It has everything from protein and vegan varieties to cinnamon roll and lemon blueberry. During the holidays, it even offered a peppermint hot chocolate option. Yolk’s on You (1132 E. Ocean Ave., Sea Bright, 732.747.9655; yolksonyoukitchen.com) plates pillowy classic pancakes, but you can add more texture (and flavors) by choosing from dozens of extras. Keep it simple with strawberries and cream or go all out with the s’mores option.
