WRESTLING

A talented equestrian, who has overcome being diagnosed with leukaemia as a two-year-old, to win national titles in mounted games. In March 2020, Alex won the U12 National Pairs Championship. In October she won the U12 National Individual title, and the U14 National Individual title, as a 12-year-old and in her rst U14 competition, on di erent ponies. Alex is also a spear shing record holder, claiming the New Zealand record in the juniors, women’s, and open categories for an 800g leather jacket taken at Three Kings Islands, o Northland in December. Nate has won gold medals in wrestling at the 2019 New Zealand National Championships, the 2020 New Zealand Club Champs, and the 2019 North Island and South Island Championships. He also won a Going for Gold Award, presented to those who have wrestled at national level and scored the most points. Nate is also a Wairarapa-Bush junior rugby representative, as well as a talented athlete, having won school cross-country and athletics championships. Lucas has won several gold medals representing the Featherston Amateur Wrestling Club at National Championship events in 2019 and 2020. His achievements include a gold medal in his weight class at the 2019 New Zealand Club Championships, and a silver medal at the 2020 New Zealand National Championships. Lucas also won gold medals at the 2019 North Island Championships, and South Island Championships, where he also won a silver medal in a higher eight category.

Maggie Shields

SOFTBALL

Maggie underlined her massive potential by representing Hutt Valley at national U13 and U15 softball tournaments. Maggie pitched for the U13 side and was awarded MVP for the tournament. She also stepped up to the U15s and played at rst base in the team that won their tournament. As well Maggie starred for the Giants age group teams, U13 and U15, which play in the Hutt Valley junior competitions. Maggie played an important role in the MIS baseball team that won the Wellington Region Baseball Cup.
