James Goodger was named in the 2019 NZ Heartland XV, only to injure his shoulder early in the team’s ‘test’ match against Manu Samoa. James had a disrupted 2019 season in 2019, playing in eight of Wairarapa-Bush’s games, including four Heartland Championship games. His nal and 62nd game for the province was the Meads Cup semi nal loss to North Otago. James played the 2020 club season, and his last act as a player was to kick the winning penalty in the 2020 Wairarapa-Bush grand nal to give Marist their rst premier club championship in 18 years. Stefan Hook made his rst class debut for the Central Stags in March 2020. During the 2020-21 season Stefan became the highest wickettaker ever for Wairarapa with 154 wickets. His 125 wickets in Hawke Cup cricket is just 16 away from the record of 141. Stefan captured 25 wickets at an average of 13.48 with his medium fast bowling throughout the Furlong Cup two-day cricket competition, and won the Central Districts Trophy for the Hawke Cup player of the season. Stefan was also the top wicket taker for Central Districts ‘A’ in their 2020-21 campaign. Liam Lamb is one of New Zealand’s promising middle distance runners, and is a fringe athlete for Athletics New Zealand’s performance programme. In January 2020 Liam won the New Zealand U20 3000m Championship in Whanganui in a time of 8.24.79, beating the stadium record which had stood for 40 years by 8 seconds. Liam went on to set personal bests over the mile, 1500m, 3000m, and 5000m and achieved good placings in New Zealand’s classic meets. In February 2021, Liam ran at the Porritt Classic in Hamilton and quali ed for the World University Games over 5000m running 14.17.55. Dane Lett was an integral member of the Black Sticks team in the International Hockey Pro League and the successful Olympic qualifying series for the Tokyo Games, against South Korea in November 2019. He also won a silver medal with the Blacks Sticks at the 2019 Oceania Cup in Rockhampton. Dane’s class and experience stood out for the Central Falcons in their win in the inaugural National Premier League in 2020. Previously he played for the Capital Cobras side in the 2019 National League. Dane was player-coach for Dale eld in their Wellington Premier Championship victories in 2019 and 2020.
