Open to primary/intermediate school teams that have achieved a high standard of participation in any sport.
Douglas Villa Under 13 Minibeans - Football team The Douglas Villa Minibeans overcame the regular travel over the Remutaka Hill to dominate the strong Capital Football 13th Grade Junior Premier League [JPL]. The Minibeans won all of their 17 games in the JPL, scoring a mammoth 87 goals and conceding only 14. They were on target to play in the top four final when the season was curtailed with the onset of the covid-19 alert level 4 restrictions in August.
Masterton Intermediate School Aces - Netball team The Aces were unbeaten in the Primary netball grade one competition in 2021 beating every team by a margin of at least 50 points. It was a disjointed season due to covid-19 restrictions cancelling their big WRISSA Netball event with 16 other Wellington Intermediate schools, a tournament the Aces were confident of performing well in. They also attended the Vikings tournament held in Dannevirke and were unbeaten.
Masterton Intermediate School Girls - Volleyball team Despite there being no competitive volleyball leagues for primary schools in Wairarapa, the MIS girls volleyball team outshone their opponents at the Wellington Region Intermediate Schools tournament played at the ASB Stadium in Kilbirnie in August. MIS were unbeaten, and won all eight games, including a convincing 25-12 win over Levin Intermediate School in the final.
Pioneer Under 13 - Rugby team Pioneer were unbeaten throughout the 2021 WairarapaBush Rugby Union Under-13 championship. The team were unstoppable playing an attractive brand of attacking rugby in winning all 10 games, most by wide score lines. Pioneer’s smallest winning margin was 20 points [34-14] against a combined Martinborough-Tuhirangi side. Over the season Pioneer scored a massive 288 points and conceded only 62 points.
