Finn Roberts showed potential as one of Hockey Wairarapa’s promising young umpires in 2021. Finn umpired college and senior hockey games in the Hockey Wairarapa competitions at Clareville. He mixed officiating with playing for the Rathkeale first XI in the Manawatu Intercity competition.
Flynn began umpiring in 2020 and rapidly progressed from college games through to officiating local senior games. In 2021 he was awarded the Hockey NZ Alan Lint Scholarship for U19 up and coming male umpires. Flynn fits umpiring into a busy schedule as he is also an accomplished hockey player, cricketer and promising athlete.
Maia has been part of the Netball Wairarapa mentor umpiring programme for the past two seasons. While being part of the programme Maia has achieved her Centre Umpire Award in 2022. As well as umpiring in the Mentor programme Maia also played in the Wairarapa College Senior B team and coached the Waicol Junior B team, which shows a great passion for the game of netball. Maia will be part of the Mentor programme again this season and will take on mentoring to some of our Junior Umpires.
Sian has been part of the Netball Wairarapa mentoring umpiring programme for the past two seasons. During this time she has come through the programme achieving her Centre Umpire Award in 2022. As well as playing for the Wairarapa College Senior A team Sian was willing to umpire at Primary level and help at Senior level if there was a shortage of umpires. Being part of the umpiring programme has given Sian the confidence in making her a very competent umpire.
