Save the date

General etiquette says to send out ‘Save the Date’ cards seven to nine months before your wedding and wedding invitations eight weeks before your big day. This hopefully means everyone invited can have worked out if they are available to come. This is valuable if you are having to keep numbers low.

Often guest lists come in a Group A and Group B and can be re-arranged closer to the date. Most people don’t mind knowing where they stand. It’s best to keep everyone informed. There are many companies who will print ‘Save the Date’ cards and they come in all kinds of design, including a magnetised back, so it can be kept in full view on your fridge.

Important: Your ‘Save the date’ cards should include: Your names (it’s traditional to list the bride’s name first and for same-sex couples, consider alphabetising.) Your contact address and phone/email.

Invitations:

Go into detail about the wedding. Who is marrying who, where, what time and even a map of how to get there. An RSVP is required usually about a month before.
