Why choose the Wallace Collection? In 1897 the Wallace Collection was bequeathed to the British nation in one of the most significant acts of cultural philanthropy of the Victorian era. Today, the museum works with philanthropically minded businesses eager to engage with and support the Wallace Collection’s ambitious programme which seeks to combine curatorial excellence with educational and social inclusion.
Today, Hertford House retains the feel of the grand home it once was. Previously the residence to the aristocratic Hertford family, it also played host to the French and Spanish Embassies before becoming a national museum in 1900. This was when Lady Wallace fulfilled her husband Sir Richard Wallace’s wish by donating the family collection to the British nation.
Located close to London’s busy Oxford Street, the Wallace Collection is an international treasure house that attracts over 400,000 visitors a year. The museum is home to unsurpassed displays of 18th century French art including furniture, porcelain and gold snuff boxes as well as masterpieces by celebrated artists such as Titian, Rubens, Velázquez, Rembrandt, Watteau, Canaletto, Reynolds, Gainsborough and Delacroix.

Hertford House, the Wallace Collection’s home, is regarded as one of London’s most prestigious venues and is a spectacular setting for an impressive variety of events. The glamorous galleries and the contrasting, contemporary glazed Courtyard make the Wallace Collection the perfect venue for corporate entertaining. 2
