Wallace State Workforce Training Center On November 29th, Wallace State Community College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its Workforce Training Center. The building, located in the heart of the industrial park in Cullman, Alabama, will provide individuals and companies alike with crucial industry-relevant training in a dynamic job market.

PAGE 07 in the The theme of the day was Powerful Partnerships which was seen collaboration between Wallace State, the Alabama Community College System, state and local government officials, Cullman Economic Development, and area employers already utilizing training opportunities with Wallace State. Before and after the program, attendees were able to see students involved in some of the training that will be held in the center including fiber optics, automation, and phlebotomy. Classes have already begun at the Wallace State Workforce Training Center. Office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00–4:00 and Friday 8:00–2:00.

Wallace State Work-Based Learning Wallace State is pleased to announce their third cohort of registered apprentices for Registered Nurse will begin in Spring 2024. The RN apprenticeship began in Spring 2023 and has 20 current apprentices. This program is a partnership between Wallace State, the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship, and 14 North Central Alabama employers - Altoona Health & Rehab, Aspire Physical Recovery Center, Children’s of Alabama, Decatur Morgan Hospital, Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Huntsville Hospital, Legacy Health & Rehab, Marshall Manner Nursing & Rehab, Marshall Medical Centers, Rehab Select, Riverview Regional Medical Center, South Hampton Nursing & Rehab, TLC Nursing Center, and UAB Hospital.

Ashley Baker
Workforce Enrollment & Outreach Specialist
Ashley assists students with registration for workforce training, continuing education, and personal enrichment courses. She also serves as a liaison between Wallace State workforce instructors and employers specifically for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and Skills for Success. Additionally, Ashley proctors third-party testing including WorkKeys, MSSC, PSI, ASE, and Pearson Vue.
Anna Beard
Diesel by Distance Project Coordinator
Anna serves as a mentor and facilitator to students in the Diesel by Distance program as well as a liaison to industry partners in the diesel industry. In addition, Anna works to assist individuals and organizations interested in Wallace State’s Skills for Success short-term training opportunities including Commercial Drivers License, Fiber Optics Technician, and Heavy Equipment Operator.

Collaborative Programs Coordinator
The Collaborative Programs Coordinator serves as the liaison between Wallace State and companies for North Central Alabama FAME, Mercedes Tech, and emerging specialty programs to meet local industry workforce pipeline needs.

Christina Holmes, Director
Career Services & Work-Based Learning
Christina’s team serves Wallace State students and alumni as well as K-12 schools in the WSCC service area. Resumes, Cover Letters, Interviewing Skills, and Employability Skills are just a few of the ways individuals can receive assistance. Christina also works with WSCC registered apprenticeships and internships to help students gain valuable on-the-job training while meeting industry’s workforce needs.

Certification Instructor
Sydney provides workforce training for blueprint reading, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MSSC Certified Logistics Technician (CLT), and MSSC Certified Production Technician (CPT). Sydney also serves as the Center for Career & Workforce Development’s content and social media designer.
Sean Ryan
Career Navigator for K-12 Students
Sean works with area high schools to provide career exploration and career readiness sessions for 8th through 12th graders. Focusing on Skills for Success and work-based learning at Wallace State, Sean exposes students to the many options they have while in high school and upon completion. Additionally, Sean proctors thirdparty testing including WorkKeys, MSSC, PSI, ASE, and Pearson Vue.
Savana Weissend
Career Navigator for Wallace State Community College Students
Savana conducts career readiness sessions for Wallace State students. She provides one-on-one resume, cover letter, and interviewing assistance for current students. Savana also serves as the liaison for the registered apprenticeships in Nursing and Early Childhood Education.
