Kathy is responsible for making sure the day to day operations of our office runs smoothly. Each semester she enjoys creating the newsletter to inform every one of the activities provided through Trio/Student Support Services. She is also responsible for maintaining current information on active participants.

Enrollment at UNA is just over 8,000 students, they have more than 140 majors and concentrations, and the average class size is 24 students. With tuition being among the lowest in the state, and approximately 1/3 of students receiving an institutional or endowed scholarship from the University, UNA is definitely worth checking-out.

Funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education

We encourage you to set up your Wallace State email and then check it every day or so. Many of your instructors will also contact you through your student email account. As we gear up for a new year make sure to update your email address with the SSS staff. We would prefer you use a WSCC email account, but more importantly, we need an email address that you check on a regular basis. If you need assistance with setting up your WSCC email, please come to the Tutorial Lab and our staff will be glad to assist you.

TRIO/SSS University Visit This Fall, we had a great visit on the beautiful 130 acre campus of the University of North Alabama, in Florence – Alabama’s Renaissance City. Established in 1830, UNA is the oldest public university in the state, with a fascinating history that was on full display for our tour.

She has one son that that is married and lives on a farm. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, antiquing, photography and spending time with her son and daughter in law.

Our tour started at the historic Coby Hall, where the Office of Admissions is housed. From there we visited the University Commons, the Gulliot University Center, Collier Library, Memorial Amphitheater, Student Recreation Center, and Mattielou Hall - one of 11 residence halls. Our tour ended with lunch at the Mane Market, an all you can eat multi-station dining hall and one of 11 dining options on campus. The highlight of the tour, however, was our stop to visit 16 year old African lion siblings Leo III and UNA in their state-of-the-art Lion Habitat. All in all, it was a great visit!
