MUSIC IN YEAR 7 Work Covered during the year Throughout Year 7 students will cover the following areas of music. Elements of music Rhythm and pitch notation Playing in an ensemble Students will cover these areas through: Performing Students will sing and play a variety of music from different cultures and styles. Composing Students will compose and perform their own music both individually and in groups. Listening and appraising Students will listen to a wide variety of music and analyse and appraise it, both verbally and in writing. How parents can help at home 1. Encourage your child to play a musical instrument and support their need for regular practice and attendance at lessons. 2. Encourage involvement in extra-curricular activities e.g. orchestra, choir etc. 3. Support school performances and concerts to encourage the students. 4.
