One of Walla Walla

University’s core themes is Generosity in Service. As you will discover, our students have a habit of living this out in incredibly creative and impactful ways. We would like to invite you, as a new WWU student, to join in our culture of service.

FINDING YOUR CALLING

Find you

No matter what your major is, or what your career plans are, it is our goal as a University to help you make service a part of your identity as a student here. Because that is what Jesus has called us to do. Service was Jesus’s way of life and he lived as an example for us to follow.

YOUR "WHY" Everybody has skills and passions, and this is the perfect time in your life to discover ways to use them to serve others. Finding your calling does not only mean finding a job after you graduate, it also means finding meaning and purpose in your life – your “why.” You have a lot of hard work ahead of you as you navigate your college journey, not to mention all of the added stressors of what is happening in the world. But that is even more reason to find your “why.” There is a reason that WWU cares so much about service. We believe that service is a great way to find your calling. Here are some examples: It can provide valuable experience It can connect you to what truly matters to you and help you find your passions It connects you to people and teaches you to work as part of a team for the greater good 6

As a student, I have been trying to find various ways that I can serve the Walla Walla community. CARE Weekends have given me a constant time each Sabbath that I can go out and serve. Not only am I able to practice living out the Christian faith, but I get the chance to develop a closer bond with my friends, and also meet new people on the way. It has been amazing to see how Walla Walla University is living our motto, “generosity in service,” every week as opposed to a one-day-a-year event.

WWU senior, 2019-2020 ASWWU spiritual vice president

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO SERVE?

HOW HAS SERVICE IMPACTED YOU?

The CHE has revealed many of the needs in the community to students. It has become a launch pad for service-oriented students to start their own form of service. The CHE created an atmosphere for students to serve in generosity and grow in faith with God on an exponential level. CHE creates relevant service opportunities for both college students and the diverse community alike. The CHE has built a culture that has grown respect, gratitude and love for the greater community around us.
