Horizon Living in a busy city with buildings obstructing the landscape in every direction has really made me appreciate where I come from. A rural village with an uninterrupted landscape. Inspired by the coast and the countryside, I have hundreds of photographs. The majority of these focus on bold horizon lines and capture the sense of serenity through the composition and colour. These photographs, along with satellite images, have been the inspiration for this body of work. Each decorative piece is wheel thrown and has a horizon line; created through contrasting colour and surface quality. Experimentation into surface decoration has allowed me to apply layers of glazes which react with each other in different ways, creating an exciting and tactile surface which represents the English coast. Due to unpredictable nature of the glaze, each piece is unique and cannot be replicated.
