Brief Sophie Price is a third year fashion student and soon to be a graduate at Leeds College of Art. She is looking for a personal and professional brand and identity for her as a Fashion Design Graduate, including print based collateral.

Background It is important to understand exactly how Sophie would like to promote herself. Her work etiquette should be portrayed through her branding.

Considerations In order to produce the final printed collateral, this project will be a three-way collaboration with the Fashion Designer herself as well as a Photographer and myself in charge of the branding., art direction and creating the finished look.

Mandatory Requirements The cost of the printed collateral will have to be taken into account and a budget must be set before any of the design work commences.

Target Audience Target audience would be potential clients for Sophie. Depending on where her practice is directed towards the end of final year, will determine the specific age range and other specifications of her audience.

Tone of Voice Tone of voice will be professional, informative and quite corporate.

Wedding Stationery

Laura Wallbridge-Bruce - Level 6 : OUGD603

Brief All of the Print and Web based collateral will need to be designed in time for the client’s wedding in August 2016, located in Cyprus. As they are getting married abroad, all of the Save The Date’s will take priority and will need to be designed and distributed well in advance.

Background As a designer it is important to gather the relevant primary research from the couple getting married, to enable me to gain a stronger understanding for their likes and dislikes. Several meetings will be arranged in order to talk through ideas and receive constant feedback.

Considerations The colour scheme for the wedding is currently very neutral. Mainly white with the occasional use of pale pink.

This is something which needs to be considered when designing all of the stationery. When designing the favours another thing to consider is that they are getting married abroad so they can’t be too heavy or likely to melt.

Mandatory Requirements Consider the cost of printing all of the materials based on a budget decided with client. Ensure that enough time is allocated to each individual design job and allow for any potential last minute changes.

Target Audience The target audience will be all of the guests at the wedding. It will also be the couple who are getting married, as they will need to be happy with the outcome before anyone else receives it. As soon as the Save The Date’s are designed and printed, this will provide a consistent theme which will run throughout all of the collateral.

Tone of Voice The tone of voice will need to be informative, when considering the Save The Date cards, invitations, seating plans (etc) whereas the rest of the printed collateral will need to be quite informal, fun and inviting! For example the wedding favours and place names.

Briony Machin

Brief Briony Machin is a third year Design Crafts student and soon to be graduate at DeMontfort University. She is looking for a personal and professional brand and identity for her as a Design Crafts Graduate, including print based collateral.

Background Briony is considering setting up her own company when she graduates, therefore her self promotion will be crucially important to gain recognition and work.

Considerations As this branding work will be completed from a distance, constant communication via emails or skype will be necessary to maintain a strong working relationship and to achieve the best possible outcome.

Target Audience Target audience would be potential clients for Briony. Depending on where her practice is directed towards the end of final year, will determine the specific age range and other specifications of her audience.

Tone of Voice Tone of voice will be informative and fun. As the branding is for a design crafts graduate, it needs to be appealing to a wide audience, particularly those interested in mosaics, as this is a strong area of interest for Briony.

Crackers

Laura Wallbridge-Bruce - Level 6 : OUGD603

Brief Design Christmas Crackers for a high end market and target audience. Make sure that they are exclusive enough to buy, as there will be six to eight crackers costing ÂŁ30.

Background By extending the Marigold Gifts brief, these crackers will need to be of a higher standard to ensure I am happy with the outcome.

Considerations Try to visualise the crackers on the shelves in stores such as Harvey Nichols or Harrods. Ensure that they are worth the money and make sure that the final outcome is printed on high quality stock.

Mandatory Requirements Do not spend too much time producing these crackers as too much time has previously been spent on the Marigold crackers. It is important to design to a schedule and get used to not running past the deadline, because if this was a live brief, the client would have to be charged extra.

Target Audience The target audience is people who are willing to spend a bit of extra money at Christmas time, to provide their family with crackers which have an element of fun and surprise, with something to keep for years to come.

Tone of Voice The tone of voice needs to be quite sophisticated but have a fun and friendly feel about it too. It needs to attract people who are interested in a traditional style of cracker, but wouldn’t mind treating the family to the crackers, so that the children can enjoy them too.

DBA Capital North

Brief Brand the high speed rail using the name Capital North. Ensure that you tell a story to the client and refine every decision made throughout the development process.

Background The high speed rail is a type of rail transport that operates significantly faster than traditional rail traffic. The reasoning for it in the UK is to close the gap between the North and South.

Considerations Consider tone of voice, colour, positioning, and application of the branding. Make sure there is a reason for every decision that is made to help to tell the brand’s story.

Mandatory Requirements Make sure that the branding isn’t too similar to existing train lines.

Target Audience The target audience will be people who use the trains for transport every day and want a quick and easier option.

Tone of Voice Tone of voice shouldn’t be too serious. The logo needs to attract as many people as possible and should therefore have a persuasive tone to it.

Brief Part 1: Design a vinyl cover design for a limited edition 12� of a mix Evian Christ by Duga-3 Part 2: Design a poster for Odonis Odonis Part 3: Create a piece of work to demonstrate creativity and artistic freedom.

Background Use the brief supplied by DR.ME to extract any relevant background information to help with research.

Considerations DR.ME have a very hands on approach to their work, try to adopt their style to produce the outcomes to all three briefs, to provide a variety of work at the end of the day.

Mandatory Requirements Consider the tone of voice, colour, imagery and content.

Target Audience The target audience is people who enjoy music by Duga-3 and Odonis Odonis.

Tone of Voice Tone of voice will differ for each brief, make sure they it reflects the genre of music.

Brief Rethink the brands of today to make them better. Use the theme which has been provided to create a brand for it and improve what is already out there.

Background There is no simple rule for creating a brand, but it is important to define the brand, then create it visually, then build a brand story and present it.

Considerations Consider what the brand should stand for, ask why should people care, and what will engage people the most.

Mandatory Requirements Consider the use of colour, layout, language and overall image.

Target Audience The target audience is in my case, carers.

Tone of Voice Ensure that the tone of voice is sensitive enough, but also fun enough to engage with.

Background Leeds College of Art have recently had their branding redone. The mosaic tiles are used across all platforms and are becoming a recognisable feature of the college.

Considerations Consider the industry professionals who will be visiting the college, and also consider how the idea can perform across multiple platforms, including social media.

Mandatory Requirements Follow the brand guidelines provided by Leeds College of Art.

Target Audience The target audience will range from students, to governers, to visiting professionals.

Tone of Voice The tone of voice should be persuasive and intriguing to encourage people to visit.

Background Working with Simon Harrison, this brief was written to both improve mine and Ellen’s engagement with the rest of Leeds College of Art Vernon Street students, as well as provide them with information about the course.

Considerations Consider the time they have to complete the work. Make sure that the exercise isn’t too lengthy.

Target Audience The target audience is the students.

Brief Design a tree which can be used all year round at Holbeck Urban Village in Leeds.

Background OS31, an architect firm, designed a tree which is in the reception at Marshalls Mill in Leeds. They have asked for a smaller version to be made to keep the tree theme running throughout the building.

Considerations Consider what trees can be used for and how it might have a secondary purpose.

Mandatory Requirements Make sure that the tree can be made out of foam board.

Target Audience Anyone working at or visiting Marshalls Mill.

Tone of Voice The tone of voice needs to be inviting.

Target Audience The target audience is anyone who goes shopping in Marks and Spencer for stationery at Christmas.

Considerations Consider all of the products in store and imagine how each one would be packaged effectively to ensure that fragile items don’t get broken and are well catered for.

Mandatory Requirements It is important to consider sustainability, recycled materials as well as John Lewis’ brand ethics.

Target Audience Target audience is anyone who purchases products from John Lewis online.
