Education for All!

The City of São Roque found reasonable solutions to keep educational activities going during the covid-19 pandemic, which closed all schools. With the Education for All action, the city saw new ways to keep students learning. With the success of vaccination and a drastic reduction in cases and hospitalizations, São Roque has already started the safe face-to-face resumption for everyone.

The situation, however, did not prevent the city from creating and putting into practice important projects and actions in the area of education, aiming not only at the quality of learning but also at the well-being of students served by the municipal education network. The city followed the determinations of the State of São Paulo schedule. Teachers and other education professionals were vaccinated with priority to ensure a safe return to in-person activities.

Smile for all

Joint action by the Health and Education departments, the Smile for All program aims to reinforce oral hygiene care for children assisted by the municipal education system, offering support and guidance. At first, the project takes place remotely.

More than three thousand students, who were already benefiting from the food kit, also received an oral hygiene kit consisting of toothpaste, brush, and dental floss. In addition, videos were produced with guidance from professional dentists on how to have good oral hygiene, distributed to schools for display to students.

Direct money at school

The mayor of São Roque, Guto Issa, created the Dinheiro Direto na Escola São Roque program. This tool will strengthen maintenance for the pedagogical and structural improvement of daycare centers and municipal schools and encourage regular attendance by students. The law was published this Tuesday, July 13th.

With the law in force, the Department of Education and Culture can make direct financial transfers to the implementing units representing the school community, the Parents and Teachers Associations. The resources will come from the municipal treasury. The investment will be made upon the fiscal proof of the executing unit.

The resource can be used for funding, consumables, contracting services for maintenance and implementation of the pedagogical proposal.

Preparing for back-to-school

The advance in vaccination against covid-19, which resulted in a drastic drop in cases and hospitalizations for the disease in São Roque, created a favorable environment for a safe return to school. In addition, all municipal schools will be renovated and improved to receive students in the best possible way, with more structure and comfort.

São Roque é destaque no combate à pandemia

O combate à pandemia do novo coronavírus, causador da covid-19, é sem dúvida o maior desafio para gestores públicos no momento. A crise sanitária que se instaurou em 2020 agravou uma crise econômica que já vinha se instalando no país há anos, e o impacto disso nas cidades é sentido principalmente pelos mais vulneráveis.

O ano de 2021, no entanto, ficará marcado na história de São Roque como um ano de responsabilidade, trabalho e compromisso com a saúde da população. Diversas medidas de enfrentamento da pandemia foram tomadas, e apresentaram resultados positivos para a população.

Entre as 22 cidades da Região Metropolitana de Sorocaba, São Roque registrou a 5ª menor incidência de casos e a 7ª menor letalidade por covid-19. Esses resultados foram impulsionados pela implementação de um pacote de medidas importantes de valorização da vida, saúde e de apoio aos são-roquenses ao longo dos últimos meses.

Referência em vacinação

O único jeito de acabar de vez com a pandemia de covid-19 é vacinando em massa a população. A cidade de São Roque vem se destacando na região como uma das mais aceleradas neste processo, conseguindo se posicionar sempre à frente do cronograma estadual. A cidade foi a primeira da região a anunciar a vacinação contra a covid-19 para toda a população adulta.

Em 1º de dezembro de 2021, a cidade já registrava 93% da população adulta vacinada com pelo menos uma dose contra a covid-19. Com isso, São Roque segue se destacando não apenas na vacinação de adultos, mas também quando se leva em conta a população em geral.

Oxigênio para a Santa Casa

O principal hospital de São Roque, a Santa Casa de Misericórdia, que recebe pacientes atendidos pelo sistema público de saúde, recebeu uma nova usina de oxigênio, que será capaz de suprir até 95% da demanda da unidade. Além da economia de recursos, a nova usina garante a autonomia da Santa Casa, que diminui drasticamente sua dependência de fornecedores externos.

Casos e internações registram queda

O sistema de saúde de São Roque, nos momentos mais críticos da pandemia de covid-19, serviu não apenas para cuidar dos moradores da cidade, mas também como um reforço para as cidades vizinhas, que puderam encaminhar seus pacientes para leitos na cidade.

Neste período, São Roque chegou a registrar mais de 70 pacientes internados por covid-19. Em 1º de setembro de 2021, eram apenas 4. Essa queda drástica representa o sucesso da vacinação como principal medida de combate à pandemia na cidade. O controle da pandemia é fundamental para a retomada das atividades econômicas.
