A treasured memory of Tobin is when he and I went to see Cradle of Filth — an admittedly high school guilty pleasure, but a show we were both stoked to attend nonetheless. Tobin got there before I arrived, and you could see he looked perfectly at home: sporting some awesome graphic T shirt, casually sipping whiskey by the bar, gently banging his head to the heavy music surrounding him. Once the headliner started and chaos engulfed the crowd, Tobin sprung into full head-banging support: screaming out cheers and throwing his hands up, letting loose the occasional guttural roar honed from his days of being lead vocals in a band.
