FROM

CHAIRMAN’S & MD’S DESK Vision

DEAR READERS We're pleased to present this Founders Day Special Edition of Quest which is packed with exciting and informative content.

First, the good news! URC has won the prestigious CIDC Vishwakarma Award 2013 from the Construction Industry Development Council, New Delhi. The credit for this achievement goes to each and every URCCians. This Quest is about preview of values, Values come into all areas form individual, family, organization, to our society and nation. The purpose is to make it easier for reader to think about the values; just as building worker would use a spirit level to check the right level of his work, we to need frequent value checks to make things turn out right

Values

Galileo once wrote, “You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself”. Find values by thinking and learning yourself, build values to your life, family, organization, society and nation. There will be no limit to what you can accomplish when we start Building values.

Happy Reading!

Shri. URC. Kanagasabapathy Chairman

Shri. C. Devarajan Managing Director

Shri. S. Palanisamy Managing Director

We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far. You cannot believe in God until you believe in yourself. June 2013 | Quest

Never think there is anything impossible for the soul. It is the greatest heresy to think so. If there is sin, this is the only sin; to say that you are weak, or others are weak.

Forgiveness

Responsibility

Forgiving people who have wronged you is an important choice to make. Yes, forgiveness is a choice. It is not some feeling that randomly washes over you when you feel the other person has “suffered” enough. This can be tough since a lot of us tend to equate forgiveness with saying what you did was okay. They are not the same thing. Holding a grudge, is not conducive to a close family with mutual respect.

The Weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong - Mahatma Gandhi

The price of greatness is responsibility - Winston Churchill We’d all like to be considered responsible people. Some of us are and some of us are decidedly less so. Responsibility is something that is learned. As a child you may have been shown how to put your toys away after playing, how to tidy your room or how and when to feed the dog. This sense of responsibility extends well into adulthood. An adult who has an intrinsic sense of responsibility doesn’t require a lot of prodding to show up to work on time, return phone calls or meet deadlines. Setting out individual responsibilities for family members works to instill this quality in everyone.

Traditions It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving

Communication

- Mother Terasa

sipping coffee and chatting or an annual fondue dinner to ring in the new year. If you don’t currently have traditions in your family, create them! All traditi ons started with one person why not let your family traditions start with you? Get creative and have fun.

So those are the top 10 family values. Of course there are others you are incorporating , the purpose is to make it easier to think our values.

Communication is as much an art as it is a science. A failure to communicate will likely lead to unhappiness and misunderstandings. Small issues grow into larger ones and when they eventually boil to the surface I would argue that this is the most important value for families to have. When people feel they can talk openly about anything – hopes, dreams, fears, successes or failures – all without judgment, it’s encouraging and strengthens the bond.

Our duty is to encourage everyone in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.

In this milestone, we explored the mishaps of the 1st milestone to the team proved how creative thinking salvaged the original purpose of the project into something greater. The project team was assigned to discuss and update the major activities everyday during the 7pm meeting. Some commonly discussed activities are as follows

1. Planning the work 2. Assessing risk 3. Estimating resources 4. Organizing the work 5. Acquiring human and material resources 6. Assigning tasks 7. Directing activities 8. Controlling project execution 9. Reporting progress 10. Analyzing the results based on the facts achieved

Breaking Bottle Necks: The Major and the most critical thing that makes the Project team weird were the Earthwork and the shuttering work as it consumes a more time and doesn’t let us go further.

Success: As a result of all of our team effort we covered around 1914 Rmtrs of the canal area and achieved 18% of the agreement value in a short period of about6 months. This makes the Milestone –II a big success, leading the project to its way to profit.

available shuttering system. After few weeks the labours got experienced in this type of shuttering and resulted in a good productivity as high as 7-8 repetitions per month.

Condemn none: if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so. If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers, and let them go their own way.

Test made everyone to refresh their knowledge and everyone appreciated the importance of continuous learning. “To build a team it is very much eventual to know about the people in the team”. This is key learning which as URCians we all got from this HR workshop. 360° Feedback thought us about giving and getting feedback and how take that in a positive manner to improve our interpersonal skills. Through personal interview every individual had been assigned the Key Result Area which will be evaluated after the financial year. On the whole it was the leverage to the HR workshop team and our site team which will stimulate our “Towards Excellence Process”.
