Testimonial – Abena Nurse Support
The following testimonial was kindly provided by John Munroe Hospital. They initially took part in a 3 week product evaluation and then following the successful outcome decided to transfer to Abena products and the Nurse support provided as standard to Abena customers. This is an account of their experience after using Abena products for approximately 6 months (support is ongoing for all customers whilst they are using Abena products).
Testimonial Abena was asked to come into our company so that our patients could benefit from appropriate pads for their needs. Previously this was decided on carers’ judgement and what was available. Abena was chosen because their pads appeared to have a better range than was currently being used and better for keeping skin integrity. As well as this Abena offered the services of a trained Nurse to assess and review the patients which our patients are currently unable to get anywhere else. The Nurse who has been with us has spent considerable time training the staff in use and rationale for the pads. She has also spent time seeing the patients individually, discussing their needs and preferences and trialling different pads until the right compromise between patient comfort and preference with needs and usage (taking into account time and ability needed to change the pad) has hopefully been achieved. The Nurse is available to email or phone if we have queries or need further reviews but is also continuing to come in regularly to ensure that all is running smoothly. A few members of our staff were initially very sceptical about the pads and didn’t like them. However since the training and time put in by the Nurse one of these staff members stated that “the pads were much better and they didn’t have to change the patients as often”.
