Women in Ag Luncheon - inspiring speakers and networking
The stories of two rural women are set to inspire patrons attending this year’s Telstra Women in Ag Luncheon at Farm World.
The annual Women in Ag Luncheon is an opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers and connect with a room full of amazing women.
This year’s lunch will feature two wonderful speakers from two different backgrounds - VFF president Emma Germano who grew up in Gippsland and Cathy McGowan who came to national attention when she won the seat of Indi as an independent politician in 2013.

Emma is managing director of her family mixed operation I Love Farms. Based near Mirboo North, the family operation grows fresh vegetables for local and export markets, as well as running sheep and beef cattle.
I Love Farms has a firm focus on sustainability and strives to connect with Australian consumers. I Love Farms has a farm-gate store which assists to increase the community’s understanding of food and fibre production.
Emma is the current Victorian Farmers Federation president and director of The Queen Victoria Market. Emma is also a Nuffield Scholar (2014), her research examining global export opportunities for Australian primary producers.
Ultimately, Emma strives to be a strong voice, representing Australian growers and ensuring a vibrant
and sustainable future for agriculture in Australia.
Cathy became the Federal Member for Indi in 2013 and was re-elected with strong community support in 2016.
During her time as a politician Cathy actively worked in Parliament to develop policy around regional development, constitutional change for First Nations people and a solution to the indefinite detention of asylum seekers.
In 2019 she was awarded The Accountability Round Table award for political integrity and in response to the success of community independents in the 2022 election, the Australian Financial Review nominated her as one of their top 10 ‘powerful’ people. She is the Chair of Agri Futures research and development corporation, director of the Community Independents Project and an Officer in the Order of Australia, a Churchill fellow and lives very happily on her farm in the Indigo Valley in north east Victoria.

drumMUSTER, Australia’s pioneering stewardship program for the recycling of AgVet chemical containers, has been at the forefront of sustainable agriculture since its inception in 1999 in Gunnedah, New South Wales.
Over the years, this initiative has evolved into a nationwide movement, leaving an enduring mark on the landscape of responsible waste management in the agricultural sector.
Since that inaugural collection in Gunnedah, drumMUSTER has achieved a remarkable milestone, having collected over 42 million containers, equivalent to diverting a staggering 40,000 tonnes of material from landfills.
With 830 collection sites across Australia, farmers have a convenient and accessible avenue to responsibly dispose of their AgVet chemical containers.
The impact of drumMUSTER extends beyond waste disposal.
By facilitating the recycling of eligible and clean containers, the program
actively contributes to reducing the environmental footprint of agricultural practices.
The recycled materials find new life in the creation of products like wheely bins, irrigation pipes, bollards and more, embodying the essence of a circular economy.
Gippsland farmers seeking to participate in this initiative can easily find a comprehensive directory of local collection sites across the country through the drumMUSTER website. Ensuring that farmers, regardless of their location, can actively contribute to the program’s success.
In a world where sustainability is paramount, drumMUSTER remains a shining example of how responsible stewardship can pave the way for a more sustainable and resilient future in Australian agriculture.

Biostart Hay and Silage Preservatives
“Biostart forage preservatives make great silage and hay with no mixing, no waste and you can store it at room temperature,” explains Tim Marshall from Cardinal Twines and Film. Cardinal Twines, run by Tim and Jane Marshall, distribute Biostart’s biological hay and silage preservatives, HayKing, SilageKing and MaizeKing, alongside wrap and twine, out of Drouin South. Tim is a hay and silage contractor who uses the Biostart products himself so is well qualified to explain exactly how these preservatives work and what the benefits are to him and his customers.
At Farmworld the Cardinal Twines and Film and Biostart stands are set up next to each other so you can find out all about these products from Biostart Ag Manager, Nick Smyth, and Tim, as an experience end user.
HayKing is made from a combination of microbial fermentation extracts that inhibit hay spoilage microbes such as yeast and fungi – ensuring bales store better, remain cooler after baling, and results in better feed quality. This also means baling
can be done at slightly higher moisture levels.
The fermentation technology, used in the SilageKing and MaizeKing silage products, ensures a palatable forage that retains metabolic energy levels. It works by activating beneficial bacteria in grass and cereal to produce ensiling lactic and acetic acid, while at the same time suppressing the yeasts and fungi that cause spoilage.
All Biostart’s forage preservatives are used straight from the drum and open drums can be used again in the following days, meaning less waste and no mixing. As there are no live microbes in the products they can be stored at room temperature, and they are not corrosive to machinery.
Biostart is an Australasian company who have been developing biological solutions for 30 years. Extensive testing in partnership with farmers ensures the products are reliable and practical to use.
For more information call Nick Smyth from Biostart on 1800 359 559 www.biostart.com.au or Tim at Cardinal Twines and Film on 0427 276 391.

Karcher - when hygiene matters most
Maintaining cleanliness in agriculture is vital for minimizing the spread of diseases, ensuring the well-being of livestock, and promoting workplace safety.
Nowadays, farmers rely on various technical systems and machinery to aid them in their tasks, and regular maintenance is essential to prolong the lifespan of these tools.
Pressure cleaners have long been essential for farmers to keep their premises, equipment, and machinery tidy.
Removing oil, mud, manure, and other debris can be time-consuming, but with the right equipment like a hot water pressure cleaner, it becomes easier to save time, water, and energy.
Kärcher, a leading brand in cleaning technology, offers a range of hot water pressure cleaners designed and engineered in Germany.
These cleaners can heat water to 85°C, effectively tackling stubborn dirt and grime.
The combination of hot water and high pressure is particularly effective for daily cleaning tasks in agriculture.
For more intensive cleaning needs, there are Kärcher pressure cleaners that can heat water up to 155°C, producing intense steam ideal for disinfecting surfaces.
With multiple patents covering their range, Kärcher stands out as a world leader in highpressure cleaners.
Their patented Power Nozzle is up to 40% more efficient than conventional nozzles, allowing users to clean faster and save time.
Additionally, the patented EASY!Force trigger gun reduces user fatigue by utilising the recoil force of the high-pressure jet, making it easier to clean for longer periods comfortably.
Made in Germany, the Kärcher HDS range is built to last, featuring patented coil technology that minimizes the risk of corrosion and boosts efficiency by 91%.

Jelbart Dairy making business sense with Westpac
Tim Jelbart, the General Manager and Director of Jelbart Dairy, firmly believes in using data and science to make informed decisions. Based in South Gippsland, Tim, a third-generation dairy farmer, along with his brother George, oversee operations consisting of a dryland dairy and beef business. They manage approximately 2,600 head of cattle, including 1,200 milking cows, 1,000 dairy replacements, 400 beef cattle, and a team of 20 staff.
Although agriculture is Tim’s passion, his father, Max Jelbart, was passionate about education. Max, a well-known dairy advocate, encouraged Tim and his brothers to study and work elsewhere to ensure they were grounded and willing to join the family business out of choice, rather than obligation.
Prior to returning to the family farm, Tim completed a degree in Applied Science, specialising in property valuation, where he continues to work part-time as a rural and agribusiness property valuer with CBRE. Whilst his parents had the foresight to commence succession planning, Tim’s return occurred earlier than expected due to the ill health and eventual passing of his parents.
Tim acknowledges his father as an industry leader
who explored new strategies but also faced challenges during the business’s significant expansion phase.
“Dad grew the business from 100 to 1000 cows. He farmed mostly based on gut instinct, whereas I rely heavily on data and
spreadsheets. I’m more technical in my approach by focusing on risk management, sustainability, innovation and production
efficiencies, and forward planning to anticipate future challenges.”
Tim says not having the practical knowledge of his
dad has been a challenge, but he wouldn’t be able to do what he does without their staff.
“We’ve got the best team. There’s over 150 years of combined experience amongst us. Our staff have excellent knowledge, so that’s been a big part of allowing me to focus on the strategic business aspects whilst they manage the dayto-day tasks.”
When seeking additional industry knowledge Tim often turns to his Westpac banker, Scott Buijs. The families have banked with Westpac for over two decades and Tim values their close relationship. He credits Scott for helping them acquire and settle a nearby 200-acre property within 30 days.
“Scott is a trusted advisor. He’s someone I can talk to about reducing our risk margins and I’ll often run things past him before it gets to the point of needing to do something. He’s a good sounding board and we often just check in with him to see how we’re going and chat about the industry.”
With data driven decisions, business resilience, a good company culture and the ongoing support of his bank, the grass continues to look greener for the team at Jelbart Dairy.
AGRIBUSINESS EXPERTS
BIG OR SMALL WE DO IT ALL
With the increasing issue of disposable plastic products in landfill, Biogone have developed Australia’s first innovative eco-smart silage wrapping for the farming industry using biodegradable plastic.
Biogone’s landfill-biodegradable silage stretch film and hay net feature an additive that attracts microbes in landfill, that begin to eat away and digest the plastic.
Once disposed of to landfill, the plastic will decompose up to 90 per cent faster than traditional plastics, which generally takes hundreds of years or more to biodegrade.
Biogone co-founder, Dr. Ross Headifen said, “On average, the Australian farming industry uses a mammoth 8,000 tonnes of farm plastics per year such as dairy silage wraps and covers, which end up as waste.
We are however seeing several land-
fills in Gippsland that accept silage wraps and we encourage farmers to dispose of these plastics the right way.
Ideally, plastic would be picked up by local government agents for recycling if such facilities exist, or disposed to the landfill where it could biodegrade away”.
Biodegradation is slower compared to a banana peel biodegrading in a landfill, as the biodegradability of the plastic depends on the level of microbial activity in the landfill, the material thickness as well as the temperature and moisture level in the landfill.
Biogone silage wrap and hay nets are UV resistant and do not fragment to microplastics, and the landfill-biodegradable plastic has a no shelf life issues.

‘Fix Rehabilitator Plough’ Deep sub-soil tillage and top-soil cultivation in one pass
It lifts and cracks, aerates and penetrates like no other implement. Use the Rehabilitator Plough instead of rippers, chisel ploughs, discs, rotary hoes or power harrows.
The Fix Rehabilitator plough is designed to loosen and lift the soil by allowing the soil to crack along natural lines. The Tusk rollers till the top-soil producing a seed-bed and leaving the soil loose and aerated and able to capture and hold moisture.
Features:
l Relatively low Horsepower requirement
l Machines are available from 1.5 metres to 6.0 metres
l Linkage and trailed l Extra sturdy frame.
The parabolic tines can penetrate up to 500 mm, and are fitted with reversible chisel points. The two rear tusk rollers have a levelling mechanism and height adjustment.
Soil is lifted, the surface is cultivated, and crop residue is partially incorporated to speed-up decomposition. Often cereal crops, legumes and maize can be re-seeded after a one pass cultivation.
Most beneficial organisms in the soil are aerobic; most detrimental organisms in the soil are anaerobic. Good aeration will inhibit the damaging organisms and encourage the beneficial ones. This will be a healthier soil which will mineralise and recycle nutrients more effectively and provide a more sustainable system.
Healthy soil is the best and cheapest way to produce healthy plants. This won’t happen with toxic inputs. Soils need adequate air.
So to improve your soil and save on costly and often damaging inputs, the Fix Rehabilitator Plough could well be the answer.

Matt Bentley showcasing the Newburn furnace to patrons at Elmore Field Days recently.
A smart way to heat your entire home
In an era marked by increasing energy prices the smart Australian designed and built Newburn Woodfired Ducted heating system is transforming the way we heat our homes.
The Newburn Furnace has been heating homes across Tasmania and Victoria for more than 40 years.
Heat output is regulated by your room thermostat, ensuring wood fired heat flows via duct work through floor or ceiling vents into every living space.
Recently, with an updated furnace, Newburn Woodfired Ducted Heating exhibited at Elmore Field Days with an overwhelming response.
Newburn co director Matt Bentley said showcasing the Furnace to Farm World is the obvious next step after the positive feedback at Elmore.
“Many were unable to visit our work-
shop in Bendigo to find out more or bring family to see how this smart system works, so at Farm Day they can come and feel the wood fired warmth and see how it would heat and how easily it would fit into their home.”
“Our expert team will be on hand to answer questions, so bring along your house plans and talk to us as to how it can link into existing ductwork or be built into a house or new build.” Matt said.
This smart heating system can burn overnight without the need of stoking, ensuring continuous warmth until the next morning.
The furnace comes in two sizes, the 120 model, has a heat output of 35 kW and The larger version, the 150 model, boasts a heat output of 45 kW1. www.newburn.com.au

Reinvent The Gate
Terrance Loughlin grew-up on a sheep farm in central NSW and developed a hatred for opening and closing gates at an early age.
Fast forward 40 something years and Terrance decided to finally do something about it.
Dissatisfied with the products in the market regarding their suitability for rural applications, Terrance invented the Jimmy Wheel.
The Jimmy Wheel opens and shuts gates automatically by using a motorised wheel that is attached to the gate.
The wheel follows the contours of the terrain so, it does not matter how steep your driveway is.
The Jimmy Wheel is battery powered with solar recharging.
It has its own latch for locking the gate in place.
One big advantage of the Jimmy Wheel over similarly priced products in the marketplace is its speed of operation.
It only takes approximately ten seconds for the gate to go from closed to open.
The Jimmy Wheel is designed as a simple DIY installation to any existing swing gate.
The only requisite is that the gate swings freely.
If like Terrance, you hate wasting time with gates, consider joining the revolution and visit the Ruralbotics exhibition at Farm World 2024 - Site E9.

Award-winning heart health checks at Farm World
Attendees of Victoria’s premier agricultural field day, Farm World at Lardner Park are encouraged to get their free heart health checks at the Latrobe Health Services stand 85-87 in the General Interest Pavilion.
Latrobe Health Services CEO, Ian Whitehead said that as a not for profit, for purpose private health insurer, the organisation and its staff are passionate about good health in regional communities.
“Gippsland has some of the worst heart health outcomes in Australia, so we are encouraging anyone aged between 18 and 50 years to participate in the health screenings.
“This initiative is one way to help our members, and community check if they are at risk,” continued Mr Whitehead.
From the early beginnings of the Gippsland healthy heart study, to an ongoing community outreach program and then partnering with Shane Warne Legacy Latrobe Health has been involved in testing more than 30,000 participants.
The heart health checks are free and will run every day at Farm World at Lardner Park, in the General Interest Pavilion. No booking is required.
Key heart health indicators checked during the screening include blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, diabetes risk and non-fasting cholesterol levels.
“Results are provided immediately following the test, with the health professional providing key insights on the results, advice on how to keep your heart healthy, and informing participants on how to follow up with your GP if further action is required,” Mr Whitehead said.
Coronary heart disease remains the dominant cause of death among Australians with worse outcomes experienced in regional and rural areas.

Smart design for easy stubble incorporation
AMAZONE has added four folding mounted models to its third generation of Catros compact disc harrows.
CLAAS Harvest Centre Product Manager – AMAZONE, Murray Tuck, says the four new models, available in working widths of 4, 5, 6 and 7 m, feature a smart frame design that allows quick and easy adjustment of the working depth.
“On many cultivators, the working depth is changed by tilting the entire machine and thus the positions of the front tools or following rollers and harrows have to be re-adjusted as well,” he says.
“AMAZONE’s ‘smart frame concept’ makes adjusting the working depth much easier and more efficient.
“The working depth is adjusted by rotating the disc carrier arms away from the frame for a deeper setting or towards the frame for shallower work.
“The machine’s frame always remains parallel to the soil, meaning that the first and second row of discs always work at the same depth.
“A fixed linkage between the two rows of discs further helps to maintain a uniform working depth.
“Importantly, adjusting the working depth of the discs has no impact on the operation of any front or rear tools.
“This allows the operator to quickly match the working depth to suit changes in operating conditions, such as working across tramlines or headlands, without having to leave the tractor.”
The design allows stubble to easily flow through discs, regardless of working depth.
“The deeper the work, the greater the distance between the frame and disc arm and the following roller,” Murray says.
A range of tools can be added to the front or rear of the machine.
“The addition of a knife roller at the front shreds organic matter, such as stubble or catch crops,” Murray says.
“The individual roller segments provide perfect contour following.
“Alternatively, a crushboard can be selected if the focus is on seedbed preparation.
“In addition, a wide range of rollers and harrows are available for mounting to the rear of the machine to achieve perfect reconsolidation in all conditions.”
Seed drills and liquid manure ap-
plicators can also be incorporated into the system.
The Catros series is highly regarded for its high productivity, versatility and low maintenance.
“Catros is perfect for a range of tasks, including breaking stubble and shallow seed bed preparation, right through to intensive incorporation and deep cultivation,” Murray says.
“The low pulling power requirement enables high operating speeds, high work rates with low fuel consumption.”
The 510 mm diameter Catros+ discs are suitable for working at depths from 5 cm to 14 cm and are available in smooth, fine-serrated or coarse-serrated configurations.
The 480 mm diameter X-Cutter disc is available for shallower working depths from 2 cm to 8 cm.
Its wave profile guarantees full surface movement and high mixing intensity at the same time.
The disc bearings have maintenance free seals for reduced maintenance.
The disc bearings are located in the ‘shadow’ of the soil flow, protecting them from wear and allowing the easy passage of stubble and soil.
Each disc is individually suspended using pre-tensioned rubber spring elements to provide optimum contour following and maintenance free overload protection.

New TracMac’s Straw Applicator set for release
New TracMac’s Straw Applicator will be released at Farm World 2024.
After receiving a request from a local dairy farmer who was looking for a machine to spread straw onto his calving pad and sheds, the team at TracMac Farm Equipment researched and built the all-new TracMac’s Straw Applicator.
Designed to hold and simultaneously feed out two large square bales, the straw applicator is a very easy machine to operate with its all-hydraulic drive system.
A rear mounted horizontal rotor consistently and evenly breaks up the straw bales while a unique twin ram push bar system pushes the bales into the rotor via a variable speed control valve.
The whole system only requires one set of remotes to operate with around 40 ltrs per minute oil flow. This makes them suitable to use with smaller utility sized tractors.
The large square bales are placed on
the machine on their sides, so it makes it much easier to remove the strings, and due to its design featuring very few moving parts, the straw applicator is very easy to service and maintain.
When fitted with TracMac’s optional side feed out panels, the straw applicator also makes a great large square bale feeder.
Unlike most other large square bale feeders that tend to break the bale up biscuit by biscuit, the straw applicator will break the bale up more evenly and consistently leaving less residue and damage to the pastures.
Also, with its ability to feed the two bales together, it makes it a very quick and efficient way of feeding large square bales.
To find out more about the new TracMac’s Straw Applicator, come and see the machine on display at the TracMac Farm Equipment stand at Farm World site A30 or contact the team on (03) 5625 1255.
including CLAAS, AMAZONE, JCB (NZ) and Väderstad (AU), via its network of 33 owned and franchised CLAAS Harvest Centres and 22 independent dealerships throughout New Zealand and Australia.

McIntosh Multi Bale Feeders improve farm efficiency
TracMac Farm Machinery receives many comments from farmers that have purchased and are now using their new McIntosh Multi 4 or Multi 5 Bale Feeders.
Their ability to carry four or five bales on the machine together with one or two bales on their front-end loaders allows farmers to go out and feed large herds in one trip.
Comments from TracMac customers say they are reducing their feed out times by up to 30%.
It’s not just the labour saving, it’s also less wear and tear on the tractors, less fuel used, and damage done to gateways and tracks by doing less trips.
Many farmers have said “It’s always great to get the job done quicker and more efficiently so you get a chance to spend some more time with the family as there never seems to be enough time.“
The Multi Bale Feeder has a unique twin ram bale loading system that is capable of handling bales weighing
This is a great safety feature as anyone who has experienced trying to get the plastic and nett off the second bale in a mob of hungry cows when you are only able to feed one bale out at a time knows.
Back in 2016 the McIntosh Multi bale Feeder won the TMA (Tractor & Machinery Association) Best Non-Powered Machine of the year at Farm World.
Then later that year it won the Weekly Times Best Imported Machine of the Year at Elmore.
Now eight years on and with many customers putting thousands of bales through these machines, they have shown to have the strength, performance and durability in many different applications throughout Australia and New Zealand.
For more information and details, please contact TracMac Farm Equipment on (03) 5625 1522 or contact your local McIntosh Farm Machinery dealer. over 1200kg and allows the operator to hold the bale above the platform to allow easy removal of the net and wrap.
This is especially suitable for roto-cut silage bales that can fall apart once the net has been removed and ensures all the material falls into the chamber and not over the back of the machine.
The bale transfer system pushes each bale up into the feeding cradle.
Specially designed feeder slats allow the easy transfer of the bales and ensure plenty of aggression for consistent feeding.
The dual sided cradle allows accurate control of feeding out the fodder, no matter which way the bale is placed into the cradle.
The new style vertical drop side feeder chains assist in the prevention of the wheels running over the material. Other features like the heavy duty chassis, walking beam axles, floatation tyres, large storage bins and two remote operation are all designed to make feeding bales quicker and easier.
Customers have commented that they really like the ability to go into a large herd of cows and feed up to three bales out without getting out of the tractor seat.
Farm World tractor driving competition dealer’s award returns in 2024

Farm succession –food for thought
One of the hardest things to do in regard to ‘farm succession planning’ is getting started.
The following is in some way a guide to getting the planning happening.
(a) Make a list of all your assets and liabilities;
(b) Ascertain how the assets are owned, are they owned by you as individuals or by a trust or a company.
The ownership is important as it will have an impact on what you do with the assets, which may well shape your thinking.
(c) Ascertain the values of each asset. Be realistic with the values used for your assets.
This process will give you your net worth.
From this you can start to plan where you would like to see asset (& debts) allocated to you, remembering at this stage it’s a draft plan of your ideas nothing is set in stone and plans can be changed as required.
It is often a worthwhile process at this point to engage the help/advice of your advisor or an expert in the succession planning field.
This should help you determine whether your “thoughts” are able to be done or whether you
• Be respectful to each other in family meetings.
• Once you start don’t stop.
• Keep an action plan of things to do.
• Engage advisors to help you with the process.
• The process needs someone to “drive” it otherwise it will stop when or if things get complicated.
Colin Wright Principal CA BBus – Phillipsons Accounting Services need to change things (ie. due to the way an asset might be owned). Your advisor may well have additional thoughts in respect of what might work well and what might not. The aim is to develop a draft plan that you are comfortable with that you can then discuss with the family. Some key points to remember:
• The process can take time so be patient.
• Be prepared to make changes along the way.

Farm forestry
As the old saying goes, the best time to plant trees was 20 years ago, and the second-best time is this year. But planning for a 2025 planting is right up there too.
Under the Gippsland Farm Forestry Program, The Victorian Government is offering grants to successful applicants to help establish trees on farms to contribute to future timber supply.
The program seeks to support the integration of timber trees within the context of a whole farm plan, ensuring these trees play a vital role in improving the broad range of economic, environmental, social, and cultural values within and around the farming landscape.
Lardner Park, the home of Farm World, also hosts the oldest agroforestry demonstration site in Victoria, established forty-five years ago.
Situated only 400 metres from the Farm World exhibitor area, various
timber species have been planted and harvested over this time and many tours of this site have been conducted.
VicForests and Lardner Park are working with Gippsland Agroforestry Network, a group of people with a special interest in producing, converting, and marketing farmgrown timber, to reinvigorate the demonstration site.
The Gippsland Farm Forestry Program has awarded grants to numerous landholders over the last two years, most of whom have now established their plantations in various configurations, including woodlots, shelterbelts and within wide-spaced agroforestry regimes.
A new round of grants is now open and application forms will be available at the VicForests Farm Forestry stand at Farm World (Site 543), or online at ww.vicforests.com.au/farm-forestry. Come and talk to our team at Farm World to learn more about the program.

“Our vision is to deliver products and services that will add value to your farming business,” he says. “We will supply and support innovative agricultural machinery and technology to create opportunities for farmers and contractors to increase efficiencies and gain beneficial outcomes.”
Guy has spent his entire career in agriculture after being raised on a family farm in England.
After leaving the farm and progressing into retail distribution, he took the opportunity to meet new people, and experience many sides of the agriculture industry.
He moved to Australia in early 2003 and held the role of National Sales Manager for CLAAS, working closely with dealers to support and develop distribution before moving back into retail, where he says he enjoys working with farmers and contractors directly.
This allowed him to build relationships and earn trust with both suppliers and customers to create improved outcomes for all parties.
“My plan for this year is to develop my business whilst continuing the work that has already started with Novag T-ForcePlus seed drills and provide the necessary support,” he says.
We have a range of Novag direct seed drills operating across Tasmania, Victoria, and Southern NSW and we are pleased with their performance and how customers have been able to develop their seeding operations, reduce establishment costs, creating efficiencies and enhancing yields.
We have spent time seeking complimentary products and services to enhance our offering and our understanding has led us to believe that there is a need in some instances for remedial cultivation to alleviate sub soil compaction.
“We are pleased to announce the introduction of Grange Machinery to Australia and look forward to displaying machines at Farm World this year in March”.
This new range comprises of low disturbance soil looseners and we will be displaying Close-Coupled Toolbar (CCT) and Low-Disturbance Loosener (LDL) machines and look forward to introducing the Strip-Till preparator later in the year”.
This new range of equipment provides extra versatility with existing mounted and trailed implements when cultivating or drilling and will become a unique and integral part of your establishment process.
“I’m passionate about what farmers and contractors do and will do my best to develop and evolve my business to meet the demands that we are challenged with.
“I remain optimistic about the future and look forward to working with you, sharing information, and supplying and supporting innovative machinery.”

Farmers turn to our tags when seeking a better tagging system.
An efficient and appropriate tagging system starts with the tag quality, both in terms of materials moulding, design and ease of application.
It can be hard work tagging livestock and you want the applicator and ease of application to work for you. As well, one can only put up with tag losses for so long.
A tag lost means lost ID and another job putting a tag in when putting them up the race.
Whilst our double prong tag system provides excellent retention and visibility, it doesn’t suit everyone.
Button tags have been with us for many decades.
Like all technology, great innovative design can provide great alternatives and benefits over existing technology.
John Steinfort at Enduro Tags has been designing a new range of single prong tags based on a very unique design.
He says “We proved our technology in providing over 10,000 of our special goat tags to a local Gippsland dairy goat herd, reducing their tag loss from 30% to 0.5% per annum, with no infected ears. That’s a very significant outcome.”
“Our new emerging technology is different. It’s not another “button” type tag.
We utilise our field proven plastics, that provides a hard back tag without any catch points.
Now that’s hard to believe I know. See how it work with our testing station at Farmworld.”
We are adapting this tag technology now for all livestock types and will be launching these products over 2024.
We are excited about the potential of this technology and the benefits it can bring to many livestock producers.
“And best of all, these Clip Tags are easier to apply through the ear in comparison to button tags.
Making it a sure winner for livestock, producers and Enduro Tags and the local economy”

Future-proof your property with independent, renewable power
Award-winning company Off-Grid Energy Australia has specialised in off-grid systems since 2011, with more than 1300 systems installed for customers nationwide.
Making them one of the oldest and largest off-grid experts in Australia.
Victorian manager and off-grid Accredited Designer Aaron Lewtas said “by sticking with what they did best — off-grid — the team had honed a uniquely expert knowledgebase over many years.”
“Off-grid systems provide an essential service – your power.
You want to ensure that responsibility is in the hands of people who understand the importance of robust system design, hasslefree power and have the track record to back it up.” Aaron said.
Modern off-grid systems can comfortably power anything, from small cabins to large, luxury homes, even agricultural and industrial applications.
Standalone power is now cheaper and more reliable than grid power for many people.
No compromise on your lifestyle when living off the grid.
Reliable power for farming is especially critical. With many areas grappling with bottlenecks from grid infrastructure and escalating diesel expenses, traditional power options have proven to be unreliable, carbon intensive and costly.
Off-Grid Energy have established independent and reliable power systems for hundreds of properties across Victoria.
“New industrial solar and battery products are now available,
which means farmers can confidently reduce diesel reliance or offset expensive grid upgrades, achieving significant cost savings and improving farm resilience.” said Aaron, “By harnessing solar and advanced battery storage, these businesses are future-proofing their operations.”
The friendly experts from Off-Grid Energy will be in the General Interest Pavilion to chat about making your new off-grid lifestyle a reality.
Australian Mapping and FARMap
Managing livestock movements, joining and calving dates, welfare management like drenching and vaccination dates often stretches the memory or leads to a lot of paperwork at the end of the day.
Australian Mapping owner Sam Baulch has now simplified the entire process with his recently released app, FARMap.
“One of the main reasons I wanted to develop FARMap was for dairy, sheep and beef farmers,” said Mr Baulch. “They normally have a big whiteboard in the shed with the map of the farm and that is their communication tool.” FARMap will either replace or enhance that whiteboard.”
For the past 15 years Mr Baulch has been working with farmers to map their farm accurately and has mapped over 400 farms in that time.
“Great savings can be made by accurately knowing the paddock areas and cutting down mistakes made by contractors when they work with a good map.” he said.
Four years ago Mr Baulch started looking into developing an app and subsequently employed an app developer to develop FARMap.
While development has been slower and much more involved than expected, Mr Baulch is still excited to see the app released to the market on computer, IOS and android.
“I was asking my clients what program they used for livestock and paddock record keeping and many told me the programs they looked at were too complicated, and they couldn’t be bothered entering data into the computer when they got back home at night” he said.
The app can be used on multiple devices so it can be shared with everyone on the farm.
An icon will show on the paddock map where the livestock are, and data can be entered on the go with any device and instantly updated to all other devices on the farm.
The idea is that farmers will be able to map their own farm within the app from a Google maps image, or upload an existing map previously produced by Mr Baulch.
Mr Baulch started Australian Mapping in 2009 after realising many farmers did not have accurate maps of their own farms.
“I saw that a lot of farmers did not have a decent map of their farm, but only had a mud map which was so inaccurate,” he said.
Accurate maps enable more accurate application of fertiliser, chemicals and stocking rates, ultimately saving money and resulting in better management of the farm.
Much like an accurate map can save money and time, Mr Baulch expects FARMap will do the same when it comes to audit time for farmers, producing reports in pdf format with the ability to email the report straight from the phone.
“Instead of hunting around through paperwork, farmers will be able to use FARMap,” he said. “It is easy to input data and to produce reports.”
The recently released app will enable farmers to have their farm map on their phone and computer linked to each other and all staff related to their business.
All paddock and livestock treatments and movements can then be recorded with the information always with them and synced with any other person on the farm.

Allflex advanced dairy cow monitoring solutions for optimal productivity and
Health monitoring with Allflex
Allflex Livestock Intelligence health monitoring applications empower dairy farmers to detect developing health issues in the transition period such as ketosis, DA, metritis and mastitis early on, before they show up in milk or as a serious metabolic problem, and often well before production drops or clinical signs appear.
They also enable farmers to quickly evaluate response to veterinary treatments, for the best-possible recovery and treatment costeffectiveness.
Using our applications, dairy farmers can make informed and timely decisions regarding intervention and treatment, enabling pre-emptive actions that help avoid deterioration, reduce treatment costs, and reduce or prevent impact
on milk production, and lowering the mortality rate.
Real-time detection and alerts provide actionable insight into individual cows’ health at high-risk times, including before, during and immediately after calving, enabling timely intervention that can save money and provide peace of mind.
Our health monitoring applications also help farmers streamline their fresh cow protocol and minimize disruption to fresh cows’ peace by enabling them to identify and care for those cows that need additional attention.
Our health monitoring applications include Health Report, Fresh Cow Report, Animals to Inspect Report, Distress Report, and Distress Alerts.
