“I
believe the work crew experience was invaluable in terms of making me a better employee, hands down. It made me a well-rounded individual, and although I don't work in any of the same types of jobs I had at school there I still find myself remembering my amazing work crew bosses from every one of my crews. They all led in different ways and the work environments were each unique. I have the adaptability needed to function in any setting that I may find myself, from working as a wildlife technician in the remotest parts of the country, being employed as a manager of a small business, or working with at-risk youth. The leadership, responsibility, and the creativity we were allowed to have in some of the positions at Warren Wilson all gave me experiences I would never have had if I had attended a “normal” state school.” Ashlee Robison Environmental Studies Major Research Technician, Fort Lewis College 2
WHEN GRADUATES WHO ARE EMPLOYED WERE ASKED: • How soon after graduation did you find your first full-time employment? 47.6% responded within the first month. 80.9% responded within six months. • How satisfied are you with your present employment? 94.1% responded that they were satisfied to very satisfied. • How well did Warren Wilson College prepare you for work within this field? 97.1% responded that they were as well or better prepared than their peers. • How meaningful do you find your current employment? 95.5% responded that their employment was meaningful to very meaningful.
“M
y experience in the work program taught me invaluable aspects of being successful in the professional world. I might not be rebuilding engines for a living these days but I did learn the importance of being on time, following through with tasks, taking initiative, and seeking positive ways to continually improve theworkplace, all of which I now use daily in my career.” Patrick Addabbo Outdoor Leadership & History Major Program Supervisor Adaptive Sports Center
