Gustav J. Neumann (1888-1965) was a beloved professor of English at Wartburg College from 1910 to 1964. A 1907 graduate of Wartburg (Clinton campus), he also served as the College’s dean of faculty, vice president, and poet laureate. A prolific writer and deeply religious man, Neumann wrote 700 published poems, eight books of verse and prose, and many lyrics which have been set to music. G.J. Neumann Chapel-Auditorium (pictured) is named in his honor.
