When you chose your University, you also chose your Students’ Union. What is your SU? It’s a central point for all students. It’s a collection of bars, restaurants and clubs. It’s fun. It’s a centre of entertainment, hosting names like Eric Prydz, The Killers, Annie Mac and the NME Radar Tour. It’s a place of refuge. It’s a fully staffed Student Advice Centre, able to answer any question under the sun. It’s a hub of information. It’s an employer. Over 200 students get paid for working in it. It’s run for students by students. 7 full-time sabbatical officers, 29 part-time officers and a Union Council of 73 people. Democracy rules. It’s a place where there is opportunity for ‘change we can believe in’. It’s a huge collection of societies 257 and growing. It’s active. It’s over 70 sports teams competing against allies and rivals alike. It’s dynamic. It’s having a massive facelift to be completed later this year. It’s investing in your future. It’s the one of the largest in the UK. It’s one of the best! It’s yours. It’s mine. It’s Warwick SU.
variety is the spice of life This is the attitude of Warwick SU, because we spoil you with so many options. Looking for a thick and juicy steak or a light healthy salad, typical British ‘fish and chips’ or maybe a Greek platter? We can sort you out. Interested in sitting down for a coffee, a three course meal or just want to grab and go? We’ve got it covered. We cater for vegetarians and vegans, calorie counters, or those that just don’t care - also, we have halal options on all our menus. This year we are bringing the Eating@Warwick card to all our SU outlets. The card gives you a minimum of 10% discount off normal RRP in participating outlets - look for the pink pricing. You can also use it to buy groceries in Costcutters (no discount) or pay for drinks at our bars. Cards can be loaded with cash online or in Rootes Reception so you don’t need to carry cash around to get your food and drink. For more information check out www.warwick.ac.uk/warwickeat make sure you order one soon.
xanana’s Xanana’s is the SU’s premier bistro-style restaurant. It serves an imaginative menu of freshly prepared meals, light bites and a tempting array of delicious desserts. You can also choose from an impressive selection of fine wines, premium beers and fresh coffees. It is an excellent place to relax with some cake and a nice hot drink.
the dirty duck The Dirty Duck is a modern twist on the traditional pub. It not only serves a variety of real ales, wines, spirits and premium beers, but also freshly cooked value-for-money grub. Whether you are after traditional pub food, or you want a nice quiet drink on the balcony overlooking campus, the Duck is the place to be.
the bread oven The Bread Oven is fresh! Freshly baked baguettes, cookies and a mouth watering array of fresh ingredients. It’s fast, cheap and tasty as well as being healthy. Cold and hot baguette fillings available to suit every taste bud. Open during the week from 11 till 3 in SUHQ, it is a great place to pick up a quick bite between lectures or whenever you’re starving!
Autumn Elections From 9am Tuesday 20th October until 9pm Thursday 22nd October, voting for Union Council members is open. All voting is done online, and as soon as voting opens you’ll see the big ‘Vote Now’ button on the home page. Make sure you get your voice heard! Not sure what Union Council is? Want to run for a councillor position? Or just want more info? Check out www.warwicksu.com/elections. Nominations are open until Friday the 16th of October. Get involved.
