Third term has officially hit and we are off to a very busy start. Although it is exam time and you will most likely find people in the library or other study areas around campus, don’t forget that there is a lot more going on. There are several events happening this term to which attendance should pretty much be compulsory. To start with, there is Pressure on May 1st featuring HIGH CONTRAST,SCRATCH PERVERTS, EMALKAY and ANDY C to name a few of an impressive line up. Then there is also genre swapping lyrical legend EXAMPLE on May 11th presented by uLive and the return of GATECRASHER on May 15th right here on campus.

Tickets for the events of 6 Days of Summer are on sale from 9am on Monday. Make sure you get yours within the first week to be automatically added to the prize draw to win some goodies. (competition details will be on the blog over the weekend)

You said, we did! Last term we held a massive survey, The BIG 5 to compliment the feedback that our members send us from feedback@warwicksu.com. Well we have acted on what you have told us and made changes and added things to our outlets and entertainment program. Here is a list of some of the things that we have acted upon

There are new menus in The Dirty Duck and Xanana’s which include Xanana’s special around the world menu. Xanana’s has new extended opening hours to survey library bound students an early breakfast. It is impossible to study on an empty stomach. For those who want a quick lunch, we just made The Bread Oven serving time even shorter. Now you can pre order your tailored option at The Bread Oven.

Looking to have a break? Well we have Ice cream available up in The Terrace Bar and Curiositea offers slushies in addition to its great teas and coffees - now with seating on the Piazza so you can soak in the summer sun.

We continue to bring the market to you with a wider range of the popular Market Stalls that happen three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The first two offer the freshest local produce from fruits, vegetables, cakes, meats and more. On Friday there are perfumes, cosmetics, books, clothes and more on offer. Come check it out.

Top Banana will now be running until 2am! Hustle has changed its look and vibe and now has DJs Sagio & DJ Spincycle playing the smoothest tunes. Brand new: Get Funked happens every Friday in the Terrace Bar from 9pm-1pm. Soulful music, shisha, special cocktails. Plus buying a cocktail at Get Funked gets you half priced entrance to Hustle.

In addition we have the NUS Extra card with ISIC (International Student Identity Card) on offer which will give you access to over 37,000 discounts in 116 countries worldwide, as well as cheap travel through the STA Travel branch on campus. Very useful especially if you are going travelling this summer. www.warwicksu.com/nusextra

We wish you all the best!

LIBRARY

From Monday 26 April until Friday 25 June the Library will be open 08:00-02:00 every day.

More quiet Laptop areas The Library has created more quiet laptop areas on Floors 3, 4 and 5 on the Social Studies side of the building, that faces the Arts Centre. This area remains a quiet study area and only bottled water may be consumed on these floors

Additional Study Spaces Available Central Timetabling have said that there are to be 4 centrally timetabled rooms (2 on the main campus and 2 at Westwood) made available for study purposes during the next term. These rooms will/may change each week and so students should visit the Central Timetabling webpage on the University website for more and current details.

Academic Support Librarians If you need help with researching your work then you can book an appointment to see an Academic Support Librarian who specializes in your subject area visit www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/library/main/contact/libraryteams/academicsupport/

Floor 5 refurbishment The University’s phased programme to refresh the Library’s learning and study facilities continues this summer with a major refurbishment of Floor 5. The refurbishment will focus on encouraging individual, quiet learning, surrounded by the Library’s collections, in a modern and pleasant environment. Work will begin at the end of the exams. For more information visit www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/library/main/news/remodel/

Seats: Are you unsure how full the library or learning grid is likely to be? If you have ever wondered whether you will be able to get a seat before you get there is a way that you can check this out online. Go to www.seats.warwick.ac.uk/mapavail.asp which will give you a live update about how many available computer work stations are there for the taken. This will save you time walking around looking for a seat that might not exist.
