TOP FIVE WAYS TO EXPERIENCE…
Fall
1. Explore the scenic routes on
Washburn County’s gorgeous country roads. A scenic tour brochure is available at the visitor center to help guide your journey. 2. Take a ride on the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad when the colors are exploding for some exquisite views of the Northwoods of
Washburn County. 3. A family vacation in the fall isn’t complete without a trip to The Burch
Barn where you can slide down a 100 foot gunny sack slide, take a ride on the grain train or get a little lost in a corn maze among other great family activities. 4. Get deep in the forest by renting an ATV and hitting the trails to explore the ATV Scenic Tour. Fall is the perfect time to explore when the colors are gorgeous and the trails are a little more quiet. 5. Put on your hiking boots and hit the trail to explore all of the fall beauty. The Trego Lake & Trego Nature Trails, as well as the seven miles of trails at Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary are a few of the local favorites.
Winter
1. Cozy up in front of a roaring fire in one of Washburn County’s charming year-round cabins. It’s the perfect spot to play a game with the family or snuggle up with your favorite blanket and book. 2. Strap on a pair of snowshoes and hit the trail. Washburn County offers several great snowshoe trails. If you didn’t bring your own pair, purchase some at the local sporting goods store or borrow a pair at Hunt Hill to explore their trails. 3. Set up an ice shack on one of Washburn County’s nearly 1,000 lakes to catch some delicious Northern, Bluegill, and Crappie. A list of lakes and public access can be found on the Washburn County Highway Map. 4. There’s nothing quite like snowmobiling through the quiet, winter landscape. Washburn County is home to over 200 miles of wellgroomed trails. No snowmobile? No problem. Check out the
Recreational Rentals on page 44. 5. If cross country skiing is more your speed, be sure to check out the area trails while you’re here. Washburn County offers over 84km of groomed ski trails. A list of trails can be found on page 42.
