WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT FROM OUR SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM? Our day camps are an exciting, safe, and affordable option for summer fun. Our Summer Camps are a place for young people to get outside, get unplugged, and back to the best things in life—friendships, fresh air, discovery, accomplishments, and self-confidence. Washington County Recreation Department Summer Youth Day Camp Program emphasizes respect for others, fun, safety, responsibility, interaction and participation. Our summer campers make friends and feel good knowing they can just be themselves! At our camps, your child is sure to be entertained with planned daily and weekly activities, such as athletics, games, crafts, and team building projects. Occasionally campers may have the opportunity to swim, skate, visit other campsites, trek to the local libraries and creameries, and be visited by special guests. Our qualified staff are annually trained on policy and procedures, fingerprinted/ background checked and certified in CPR/First Aid. Campers must pack a lunch daily in a cooler. Lunch is NOT provided. Refrigeration is NOT available. Upon registration you will receive “Camper Information” forms. These forms must be filled out completely and brought TO THE CAMPSITE the first day your camper attends a camp session. Every camper must be signed in and out by an adult within the hours of operation. Adults must show photo identification at time of pick-up. A late fee will be assessed to parents that pick up campers after the close of the camp day. Summer Youth Day Camps operate daily Monday-Friday for children 6-12 years old. Age is determined by the age of the camper on the first day they attend camp. 5yr olds may attend camp if they have completed Kindergarten. A 13yr old camper may attend as long as he/she was 12yr old on the first day they attended. (This applies to campers who experience a 13th birthday during camp sessions). All Campers must possess appropriate toileting skills. Campsites are located throughout Washington County. Camp fees and hours of operation vary according to location. Please check the fees and hours of operation listed with each particular campsite location. Each campsite location is defined by a registration number. Letters A-G indicate session/week dates. LOCATIONS INCLUDE: Boonsboro, Hancock, Marty Snook Park-Hagerstown, Maugansville, and Williamsport

HOW TO REGISTER FOR CAMP: Our Summer Youth Day Camp Program is very popular. Registration and payment is the only way to secure your spot. Please use the Summer Camp specific registration form. Or register online using your credit card. Parents have the option of registering one week at a time or registering for multiple/all weeks at once. Full payment is due for the week(s) listed on your registration form at time of registration. The only way to reserve your child’s spot is to register and pay. Only list the week(s) you’re paying for on the registration form. If you plan to register/pay weekly, you must complete a separate form each time you pay. Youth Swim Lessons
Make a splash with Ray and Karen Meinelschmidt and our Swimming and Water Safety Program! Build skills and confidence with Youth Swimming Lessons. Our comprehensive course levels teach participants how to swim skillfully and safely. Our water safety instructors are thoroughly trained, so swimmers of all ages and abilities are in good hands. Participants in advanced levels will learn a variety of strokes and will also be introduced to a wide range of personal safety skills and diving techniques. Courses are fun and interactive with hands-on/in-water training. We welcome parents, siblings and guests to watch their children’s lessons from designated areas outside the fenced facility. This enables us to provide safe, quality lessons to your children in an environment free of distractions. Long hair should be held back from the face by cap, bands or clips. Your cooperation is appreciated. We have associated each class level with a sea creature for your reference. When you arrive at your class time, your instructor will be displaying your sea creature. Our sea creature titles are unique to Washington County Recreation Department class levels.
