RECYCLABLES and NON -RECYCLABLES should be stored separately in labelled, covered bins or reusable bags with a string to close their mouths. Keep the bins away from rain and pests.
Dry | NonRecyclable Waste
Non-recyclables should get collected by the local waste management agency or disposed at the closest landfill/dumping ground maintained by Municipal Authorities
OTHER KINDS O F WA S T E E - Wa ste
Medical Wa ste
There are special e-waste dealers & recyclers that ensure proper disposal of these items. Store your e-waste and deliver it to the closest ewaste dealer!
There are designated medical waste collection and disposal agencies in the cities. Store your medical waste and deliver it to the closest medical waste collection agency!
Store your ELECTRONIC and MEDICAL waste separately. Keep it out of reach of Children.
SIMPLE STEPS FOR SETTING UP WASTE MANAGEMENT In all areas where there is a dustbin, there should be a set of three labelled dustbins or bags (washable, reusable) to ensure that waste is being segregated at source: 1 covered bin for wet waste or organic waste, 1 for dry recyclable waste, and 1 for dry non-recyclable waste.
If you can’t do three, then at least have two labeled bins for DRY & WET WASTE. Staff areas and office spaces in commercial establishments, must also be provided with minimum 2 labelled dustbins, so that they understand and follow the system in all the spaces. For guest rooms in hotels, hostels and other accommodation establishments, there should be 3 dustbins; two in the room (one for dry and one for wet/food waste) and the third one in the bathroom/toilet for non-recyclable waste.
…Continued Provide to training on the system to all members of the establishment and do refreshers periodically. Accommodation providers can make this a part of their ‘Guest Briefing’/‘House Rules’. Do not be shy to tell your guests of the proper system to follow. If there is a large quantity of waste generated daily, set up a storage space. The space should be covered, clean and protected from rodents. A water source should be available nearby to allow washing and cleaning of the equipment and for composting. There should be an open area for storage of horticulture waste and for composting all the organic waste. Meet with the local kabadiwala and make a list of things he will buy. Keep these separately and sell, recycle them regularly. Keep your medical and electronic waste separate to be disposed off safely. Set-up an appropriate composting system for your food waste. Send only the non-recyclable waste to be disposed in the local landfill/dumping ground through your collection agency.
