Do i return this crappy invicta watch or send it in for repair

Member Member Geek Do I return it or send it in for repair?

Got the Grand Diver Luminary Swiss auto the other day (gunmetal version). Love the watch, but..... While it keeps time Ok on the wrist, if I take it off it will stop after a short period of time. I even put it on a winder and it still stopped (probably when the winder stopped in its cycle to change direction). Not sure it's a big deal as it seems to work OK on the wrist, but it is troubling nonetheless, and can't figure out whats wrong.

Watchgeeks, any suggestions?

That's an SW200 correct? Bi-directional winding and 650TPD ought to keep it running. Does your winder have a sufficient angle to the head, allowing the rotor to spin properly? Are you giving it a full wind before placing on the winder? A winder is designed to maintain a watches current status, not to wind it. __________________

Ok but this is a really stupid question but is the watch fully wound to begin with, I mean did you fully wind the watch via the crown?

If you fully wind it and it stops than send it back and try for a replacement. If the replacement acts up send it back for a full refund and move along to something else.

Send it back for a refund pronto! I had the same exact thing happen to my 2.4 and after 3 1/2 months @ Invicta it still didnt work.I am pretty sure its your winding mechanism which SW200 have a history of.If you like it get a replacement. __________________

Thanks to all for the advice. Now for my stupid question: how do I tell if watch is fully wound? I wound it 30-35 revolutions before I put it on the winder. There is no "power reserve" meter (as on some watches) and it is not a skeleton, so it's only a guess as to how wound up it is.

As to the winder, its a new Jomashop dual automatic - not the best but seems to be OK. The watches are placed upright (not on a slope) and the program I have it on rotates both ways.

I heard there were problems in the past with the SW200 movement, but I thought those had long since been resolved. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on it.

If you wound it 30-35 turns and this problem still exists, I would return it for a replacement.

I have 2 watches (one less than a year and one 3yrs old) with the SW200 and they have worked flawless. __________________ Too many watches, not enough time.

Hi. Jack. Nice to hear from you. Regarding your watch...First, wind your watch by hand at least 30- 40 turns. If left unworn it should run for 35 hours or more. If it stops prematurely, you may have an issue. Second, I believe that movement is an SW200. If it is then it winds in both directions on your winder. Beyond that, you need to make sure it's getting enough turns per day. Make certain that your watch is wound BEFORE putting it on your winder. A winder is used to keep your watch wound, not to wind it. Good luck. That is a very nice timepeice.

Larry Having said what I said, if you're still having problems I strongly agree with everyone who advises you to send it back. If it's not right now, it may never be right. I, too, owned an Invicta with an SW200. After 1 year it stopped, and although Invicta attempted to fix it twice, they simply could not. While I loved the watch, they did give me full credit towards another.

Spinning the rotor around 30-35 times doesn't sound like it would do it. Use the crown to hand wind it at least 10 times, I was told. Every watch worked like a charm, unless I left it in the case for a few days. __________________

No, No - I turned the crown 30-35 times. I will take it off the wrist and set it on the desk tonight and see what happens. If I don't get at least a nights power reserve, it's going back to the Shop. Too bad (if true) - I love the watch.

Thanks again to all for advice and comment, and I will let you know how it works. If I keep it, will try to get lume shots. Saw a 2 1/2 movie last night and NO issues seeing the time.

Am a little gunshy about Invicta what with all the recent posts, but, I gotta tell ya, there is nothing like opening up the yellow (or, if your lucky, black) box. It is no where near sex or the birth of my children, but, as I get older, it'll do.
