People who bought and still own the Speedway DD should sit back and cool off. It is simply not reasonable or rational to believe that Invicta would intentionally buy and sell fake Dubois-Dupraz movements, especially at that price point. I am no fan of Invictas CS policies so don’t think I am defending them. Most likely they were bought from a legitimate and reliable source and have an OEM warranty from Invicta. Companies like Dubois-Dupraz don’t like their authorized dealers moving their overstock in the grey market. Look at companies like Apple Computer who goes completely Postal when one of their dealers does it. The economy has been down for almost 2 years now and if the 57 jewel DD is as hard to get as the Valjoux 7751 it would have a 1 to 2 year backlog. Also keep in mind even the Dubois-Dupraz official implies that there are fakes out there and it is very difficult even for them to tell them apart from the real thing. If by some strange outcome it turns out they are not real Dubois-Dupraz 57 Jewel movements Invicta would surely refund to any buyer who requests it. On the other hand as a authentic Dubois-Dupraz 57 Jewell Speedway it is quite a prize watch for $1000 and I sure would not mind having one.

Larry the public was told they (Invicta) where dealing directly with DD, so the 3rd party theory should not be correct? Or is it? __________________

I know what you are saying. I dont own one but feel so bad for anyone who did. The first post from Jim said Eyal was going to contact DD directly. That means he had gotten the movements from them, not a 3rd party. __________________ So many watches, so little time (and money).

I agree, I am sorry for those who received a defective speedway, but we have to wait for something official to turn up. __________________

Junior Member New Geek Please let Invicta respond and stop speculating

There appear to be many ambiguities and unfortunately alot of miscommunications going on concerning the DD Speedway, and Invicta should be given an opportunity to respond. (1) The last DD response stated that ShopNBC has made statements about this situation. To my knowledge, that is not true; any communications about this situation have been via Watchgeeks (which is an Invicta sponsored website). Personally, I have not seen any statements from ShopNBC (Jim and Mike are Watchgeeks owners). If Watchgeeks members are intimating that ShopNBC has "weighed in" on this, when they are directly communicating with DD they should be careful, unless they have have some documentation to back-up their claims. (2) It appeared to me that the gentleman from DD was a US sales manager and was specifically referring to US disribution channels. I would have thought that since this watch was assenbled outside of the US, US distribution may or may not be up-tospeed on all the details of every DD transaction. (3) There also appeared some inconsistency in the DD e-mail about communications with Invicta, which is quite possible when dealing with high e-mail traffic and bridging two or more languages. I do own this watch (I have sent it back to Invicta for repair), so I have more than a passing interest in what is going on. I would say let's give Eyal an opportunity to respond, and hopefully clear the air! I am sure he is juggling alot of balls and will respond in due course. bobbleowl View Public Profile Send a private message to bobbleowl Find all posts by bobbleowl Add bobbleowl to Your Contacts #7 Today, 01:16 PM

I agree that no one should jump to conclusions. However, if it turns out my Speedway does not have a legit DD movement, I am going to want a full refund no matter how long I have had the watch. I bought it specifically to get that movement. steverob View Public Profile Send a private message to steverob Send email to steverob Find all posts by steverob Add steverob to Your Contacts #8 Today, 01:17 PM

I don't think people are jumping to conclusions, but they are discussing possibilities. I see that everyone is being quite civilized. I don't see any wild accusations or vicious name-calling. People are rightfully disappointed, and even if you did not buy the Speedway DD, owners of any number of Invictas should take notice of this issue and have concerns about the integrity of the brand. I have no doubt that when Eyal Lalo speaks to this issue, his words will be weighed with careful consideration here. ~ Denise rottieluv View Public Profile Send a private message to rottieluv Find all posts by rottieluv Add rottieluv to Your Contacts #9 Today, 01:21 PM Join Date: Jan 2010 Location: THA BRONX Posts: 275

Wow this DD/Speedway thing has really turned into a nightmare for all who are involved. It sucks for all who got a defective watch, it sucks for DD who seems to have had no direct business relation with the big "I",and it appears that it really sucks for Invicta who is gonna have some major PR work ahead of them. I have faith that Invicta will be quick to respond and clear up all of this confusion. Good luck to all involved.
