I scratched one recently too, and it pretty much killed what little faith I had that FF is any better than mineral glass. I used to treat my FF like sapphire, now I will treat it like mineral - careful
not to bump it, and wipe it only with a very clean soft rag (as opposed to just whatever I have lying around, which works fine on sapphire). Sorry to hear about your scratch! But hey, it just adds character to the watch Eric. __________________

You can't put a band aid on that! There are some threads on WG about buffing out scratches, do a search. Maybe they will help. __________________

How does this tie in then with Jim's 'Cold Steel' Tanto scratch test.. Jon

Awwww i feel your pain. I just scratched my nice Lupah that Bignoize bought for me *whistling and looking away* I'm more sad about it though maybe it can be buffed out?? It's about 1mm scratch and right on the very top in the center. It's hard to see but I notice it. __________________

Chipped a new Ocean Reef crystal when I bumped it against a wood home interior door if you can believe it. So much for the science behind the FF! Joe call invicta CC and find out what they charge to replace your crystal. I believe it is $20.00. Then decide if you want to send it in with the crystal replacement fee plus your Invita required return postage. You will wait 3 - 4 months ot get it back from repair. Invicta sends their watches back to europe for repairs as there isn't a repair facility here in the US. __________________

sapphire crystals and super luminova are gold standards in the watch industry. flame fusion crystals and tritnite are inferior substitutes. are there any watch makers in the audience that can comment on this issue? would a watch maker who works on fine swiss watches even have heard of flame fusion or tritnite? mbgalg View Public Profile Send a private message to mbgalg Find all posts by mbgalg Add mbgalg to Your Contacts #28 09-12-2010, 05:06 AM

It happens. I have shattered Sapphire, and scratch Mineral and have chipped FF, like you I am rough on certain watches. Personally I am pretty impressed with FF thus far. As far as the cold steel test Jim has performed. It is pretty simple People the law of Physics in the cold steel test vs a non fine pointed object with force will be more likely to scratch then the knife. Does anybody think outside the box anymore? __________________

I look at it this way... If you can see through it, it's delicate. And this applies to more than just watches. So no material is perfect. However.... Flame Fusion is a marketing invention and it is NOT sapphire, which is the industry standard. Is it better/worse/same? Yes/no/maybe so. See above. If you can see through it, it's breakable. Be careful Eric. __________________

scratched my FF too. as with other claims made by Invicta I dont think it being the "best of mineral and sapphire", holds true, judging by the people on here who have done what I have done. I wear it anyway until I can find someone who can buff it out.
