Invicta Venoms Don't Fit Larger Wrists

A caller who is 6' 4" just phoned in and spoke with Mike and stated the Invicta Venom doesn't fit his wide wrist. I have an 8 1/4" wrist and have a similar problem. I notice when I wear the watch it rides side saddle on my wrist, i.e. the lugs are too contour, and aren't wide enough to wrap around my wrist. As Mike said in so many words Invicta most likely will not be changing the design, so we'll have to deal with it. __________________

Join the club....I am 6'6" and have a little over an 8.5" wrist. I tried on a buddies Venom and it was beyond uncomfortable. The lugs practically dug into my wrist....and I didn't like the feeling at all. That's why I got the SAS on a rubber strap for my first Reserve timepiece. Fits much better and is quite comfortable. I especially like the Scuba on the rubber strap....man...fits nicely....although I do wish the rubber strap was a tab longer. I have to wear it on the next to the last hole at the end. It does not fit my right wrist at all...and I sometimes wear my watches on the right hand as well as my left. The SAS strap is plenty long enough for my 9.25" right wrist though.

Edited : I hear what you say Buddah00.....I have RA in both hands and wrist...so my wrist are usually kinda swollen near the bones and the Venom's shape presses against that area and is extremely uncomfortable...and on bad days..painful. It's why I replaced my straps on my 2 Russian Divers....so I could wear them a little higher on the wrist so they didn't bother my wrist when I am having a flare up. __________________

My wrist is a little over 8.5" It depends how your wrist is shaped. The curvature on the Venom is too narrow. It hits my bone if I don't have it in the sweet spot, but I have found that it is much more comfortable on the bracelet. I don't have that problem with the Leviathan, it contures to my wrist perfectly, like it was built for me.

I still love my venoms you just have to find the sweet spot. __________________

I have an 8.5 inch wrist and it lays perfectly on top with 2 links removed. I'm sure everyones bone spacing is different too. It's a beast.. I have a 7" wrist and cannot wear a Venom on the blue rubber strap comfortably, but have no problem wearing a Venom on the black rubber strap or on the metal band that comes with the Venom kit.Two out of three is not that bad. The problem with the blue strap is that it is not soft and hurts my wristbone.

Yes, the braceletmakes all the difference in the world for large wrists.

The first Venom I purchased was the IN5733 on a strap.

I got the bracelet, and it is MUCH more comfortable.

I kinda thought this may be a problem for some with larger wrists? I'm @ 7-1/2" & it fits pretty good, as the end lugs don't wrap around my wrist, as there is still a little room on each side of my wrist.

Now I think it's more on where your wrist bone meets the end lugs?

Also I think it's how you wear your strap, as on a warmer day I open it up 1 & on colder days I tighten it up 1 & it works for me. Two different feels on the wrist when opened up 1 it is slighty loose, but cannot move around my wrist & when tighten up 1 it is slightly snug = 2 different feels on the wrist & both are acceptable for me. __________________

Maybe you could try the new RD Scuba it seems to be made for larger wrists like 8 1/2" and up. I just sent one back as I have an 8" wrist and it hangs over a bit. This the only one out of all of my 50mm plus watches with an issue. __________________

I just got one on rubber this week. Only have a 7.25 wrist and I thought I was going to have this problem.. After the band broke in the lugs seem to saddle over my wrist bone perfectly..

I can see how this would really be a big problem if your wrist is wider then the lug spacing..

I am also on the second to last hole on this watch... So I would guess the sweet spot for band length and lug spacing is in that 7.25 to just under 8" range... That further depends on how your wrist bone fits in the lug area too...

Overall it really is a cool piece if it works for you??

Most people with this complaint have an issue because of the shape of our wrist. Not a overall size issue. I have a 7.75" wrist but its flat and wide. The venom rides my wrist bone and its so uncomfortable that I cant wear it at all. Not even a few minutes. Its the fangs, the aggressive down turn of the lugs. They made them that way to help the little wristed or round wristed people but went too far.

This is a problem that will not be addressed because there are not enough of us unfortunate ones. Most people can wear it fine.

Other problem watch designs that are similar are the S1 Touring and the Lupah Revolution.

Anything with those aggressive fang lugs.

Like some have stated, not everything fits everybody. Invicta makes alot of designs and there are still plenty too choose from. I agree with you that the downturn of the lugs to fit smaller wristed people was overdone. Also that it is not always the size but the shape as well.

On the bracelet the Venom is fine on my 8.5" wrist, on a strap it is a little uncomfortable until I find the sweet spot.

I haven't had any problems with any other Invictas I have a couple of S1 Tourings and 2 Lupah Revolutions and they fit my wrist just fine.

Mike said that people would have that problem with the Leviathan too. I got one on strap a few weeks ago and it is the most comfortable Invicta I own, it feels like it was custom made for me. I know. I've been posting to that effect for 9 months since I received my silver tone Venom on poly w/platinum MOP dial. Love the look - but extremely uncomfortable to wear. If it were more comfortable to wear, I'd probably own at least two additional Venoms by now. Oh well - Invicta's loss. I also don't recall words of caution about this from either the SHOP or Invicta before I purchased my Venom. In fact, Mike D.'s comments last night in response to that caller is the first I've heard this discussed on the SHOP and/or from anyone associated with Invicta.

BTW, I have a 8.25" - down from an 8.5" wrist a year ago; and my Venom is still very uncomfortable for me to wear, although a bit better now. I wonder if the SS bracelet would be more comfortable ... anyone???

Word of caution to others, I believe last night Mike D. said the same issue exists with respect to the Leviathan lugs - just an FYI to all - I don't know this first hand, but, if anyone would know, I have to assume Mike D. would. Now I'm glad I haven't yet purchased a Venom. My wrist is about 8 3/8" (measured from lug to lug on Jim's Shop NBC ruler, of course) and have learned all too well that if a watch is a little uncomfortable I just won't wear it. As much as I love my Quinotaur, I learned that the canteen style crown is just too uncomfortable for me (even though I love the look of it) and wearing a watch on my right arm just feels way too weird. So, I will just have to admire the Venom from afar.

I have an 8 and 1/2 inch wrist and they fit me fine , I think it is more bone structure than actual size. It depends on your wrist bones and where they are located if it will be comfortable or not.

I have the same sized wrist and it doesnt fit me. I just do not understand why a watch that large is made for smaller wrists...

Size and structure absolutely matter … don’t kid yourself … it’s undeniable; otherwise everyone over a certain wrist size would have experienced the same devastatingly horrific fate. I'm definitely large boned; never the less, however, my Venom on poly is the only watch of the many different watches/brands that I own with which this happens. It’s ironic and vexing to

say the least, because I otherwise love the look, feel, and functionality of the Venom as a true deep diver (because, in the event, Heaven forbid, I ever fall overboard while tangling with a monster black marlin over the Hudson Canyons I would want to know the exact time of my untimely demise as I sink past the spires of Atlantis on the way to my watery and final resting place - damn straight).

Perhaps Invicta could consider tweaking the Venom lug design in order to alleviate the suffering and thus make available the biggest, baddest diver in the known universe to the freakishly wristed multitude (well … from what I can tell at least 10-20 WG's … but aren't we WG's representative of the everyman (and everywoman)?? ... well, probably not, but let’s go with it, who apparently have been suffering in silence (until now thank goodness) all these many months!

It's tragic really that in this day and age in America a few collectors or enthusiasts such as we should be denied (anything really, but in any event) the right to purchase yet another luxury item (because even one temporarily disappointed watch collector or enthusiast is one too many when you stop to think about it - as you should - that is if you can pull yourself away from focusing so self-centeredly on "surviving" in this "historically bad economy" I won't comment on priorities as that is a topic for another day … but I think

you get my meaning, because I suspect you roll in that manner)!

The bracelets fit my 8" wrist perfectly. I do wear it a little higher than my other pieces so

that it fits a bit more snug.

I have an 8 inch wrist and I can't wear it.

I just received my first Venom (defective). There is no way I could wear it on Rubber, and it is not that comfortable on the bracelet... Oh well, thats my first Invicta that doesnt work for me. Maybe I will grab another SAS instead __________________

i have about a 7 1/2 inch wrist, i feel like it is a small wrist but the venom fits me perfectly. on the rubber strap i have 5 holes to grow into LOL. i can definitely see where the curve of the venom won't fit a wider wrist.

I bought a Venom and received it the other day only to have it fit my wrist like handcuffs.

Sent it back. This is the second purchase I've made on an Invicta that was sent back in the last couple of months. Done with them. I now own 6 Renatos and have NEVER had ANY issues.

I have a seven inch wrist and it seems the venom curves perfectly around it so I can understand it not working well with larger wrists.

I cant even swing it on the bracelet. I guys I have wide bones I think i am going to grab another SAS on rubber this time... I know they fit! __________________

No offense, but size/comfort does not seem like a brand "issue" to me.

Just because Levi 501s dont fit me doesn't mean I will never wear any of their jeans... __________________

My wrist is 8 3/4 + " and both the rubber and bracelet fit fine. The problem is definitely the structure of the wrist rather than the size of it. __________________

As mentioned it's not the size (circumference) of your wrist but the width. Two people with the same 8 1/4 - 8 1/2 circumference inch wrist could find the watch fits one great, but the other with a wide wrist will have the watch riding side saddle. __________________

Today is my third day with my Ocean Quest Venom on bracelet. The first day I was sure I'd have to send it back. Now on the third day I'm relieved to find that I can wear it but I don't know how anyone could say it's a very comfortable watch! This thing is way heavy anyway ya look at it! But I'm so impressed with this monster I have to keep it! It won't ever be an "every day" piece for me but when I feel like breakin' out the big guns it's perfect. A real work of art.
