bwright66 Senior Member Senior Geek PD 7750 Question
In the ask Jim forum you asked Hello Jim, Is the 7750 in the Pro diver a top grade, or just a fully decorated Elaborated grade? (I would guess the latter due to the low price) What is the difference in these movements Thanks Bill

The Elaborated is the lowest grade of the 7750, which that
is not be taken as (Bad) it has 3 adjustments, and most the time is not really decorated at all. Invicta however did have theirs fully decorated, minus the blued screws. The Top grade is one step under COSC grade, and is fully decorated, and has 5 adjustments and also a few upgraded parts. __________________

Glucydur balance Thanks Mr. H. I have been very happy with all my 7750's in the SWI's, Accutron's and Invicta's and glad my new Invicta PD should perform the same. I have heard about some use of Asian 7750's that work as well as the Swiss. Some say the parts are interchangable they are so close. __________________

The Asian does not have the same fit and finish, nor are they any where near as accurate. Later in the year, Miyota will have a automatic chronograph to take on the 7750. __________________

First of all--thank you very much--Mehdi--as I learn so much from you. You are a true asset to this forum and instructor to all of us. I am always trying to learn more about automatic movements in general. In terms of the 7750, is the difference among the grades in the mainspring, shock protection, pallet stone, balance wheel (Nickel gilt vs. Glucydur gilt) and hairspring or is there more of a difference in the grades? I understand there is a 3 to 5 adjustments difference in the elabore vs. the top. Thank you. surferman View Public Profile Send a private message to surferman Find all posts by surferman Add surferman to Your Contacts #9 07-28-2010, 07:11 PM Join Date: May 2008 Location: PA Posts: 15,384 Real Name: Mr Horology Aka Mehdi.

Pretty much all you listed, are the main differences between the Elaborated and Top/COSC. But as I said also, the Top and COSC have 5 adjustments, while the Elaborated only has 3. So of course the COSC grade will be the most accurate, while the Top will the the second most accurate. Also the level of decoration, that is another key difference. __________________

Mehdi, What do you think of the difference with polyrubies vs. red rubies in the 7750 or I may be incorrect in this area? But, are they not basically the same in terms of wear and tear? At least what is your opinion? Thank you--again. surferman View Public Profile Send a private message to surferman Find all posts by surferman Add surferman to Your Contacts #13 07-28-2010, 07:28 PM Join Date: May 2008 Location: PA Posts: 15,384 Real Name: Mr Horology Aka Mehdi.

Not sure what polyrubies are? All watch movements use synthetic ruby jewels. __________________

Mehdi, Sorry I understand that they are all synthetic ruby jewels that are epilame coated but I understood (maybe wrong) that the quality of the top rubies in 7750 movements were superior to the elabore jewels, so the reference of red rubies to poly was made to this understanding. Again, thank you. surferman View Public Profile Send a private message to surferman Find all posts by surferman Add surferman to Your Contacts #15 07-28-2010, 07:41 PM

Mehdi, I like watches with the Glucydur balance (beryllium) because of its hardness to last over time but does nickel last as long or how long? Sorry to bother you so much . . . but why use nickel at all . . . probably the cost? surferman View Public Profile Send a private message to surferman Find all posts by surferman Add surferman to Your Contacts #17 07-28-2010, 07:53 PM Join Date: May 2008 Location: PA Posts: 15,384 Real Name: Mr Horology Aka Mehdi.

Nickel will also last a long time, how long (Not sure) Nickel is cheaper, so that is why it's used for the lower grades. Just like Nickel plated movements are cheaper then gold plated. __________________
