Beautiful knives and great photography. Those knives are too pretty to handle without wearing white gloves. shutterbug View Public Profile Send a private message to shutterbug Find all posts by shutterbug Add shutterbug to Your Contacts #64 07-11-2010, 08:16 AM

Nice knives! Here's a couple of mine...
Nice knives Jim...had the Zero Tolerance 350 too, but couldn't get used to the speedsafe opening - my favorite 'production' knife is the mini Emerson CQC15. That Junkyard Dog is cool too. (For the record, most autos are illegal to carry unless you're a cop, etc...and even to ship across state lines...just a point of interest to knife collecting newbies) Having been a knife collector for 20 years, it's something to see the cool production knives being put out today. The next phase in collecting is 'true' handmade knives - the 'art'. I've heard you mention Darrel Ralph on air (made your custom pointer for the shows) - well I have a handmade/custom of his from the mid 90's, made to my design requests - truly 1 of a kind (not just stamped out parts with different handles like 'mid-techs' are). Here's a pic of my Darrel Ralph knife...(hope you don't mind my 'sharing' on your thread)! I make true handmade knives too - it's a very precision oriented art...mine are true one of a kind pieces too, though I rarely work with/or make my own Damascus steel...again, not to hijack your thread, but would love to turn some people on to true handmade/custom knives - a whole different feel to them than even the highest end 'production' knives. (BTW Chris Reeves are very pretty, respected knives...not sure to what extent they are actually made by hand any more - I know big name makers have gone mid-tech (parts machined out, then assembled by hand), to keep up with demand and lower pricepoints. Anyway, here's my Darrel Ralph 'hand made' - thought it might be of interest:
And for the heck of it, here's a couple of my handmades, made from scratch - no manufactured parts...from steel bar, titanium sheet, stag/giraffe handles:
