Oxidation on Meteorite Dial???

I got a SubAqua Noma with a Val 7750 and Meteorite dial just over a month ago from ShopNBC. I was wowed by the striations and the overall look of this dial, simply awesome!

Today I pulled it out to wind it and look at it and noticed the dial has some what I believe to be oxidation starting on it just below and to the left of the date window. This was my grail watch and I have never paid money like this for a watch ever and swore never to but when I saw this come up it was something I couldn't pass up as it is the ONE Invicta that got me into collecting watches to begin with and never thought I would ever possess.

I am new to the meteorite dials and never knew that they could rust so I wasn't looking for it right out of the box and only really looked for it today when I saw an internet article about the Gibeon Meteorite and how easily it can rust. I am outside of Shop's return window and would really hate to eat the cost of this watch due to an oxidizing meteorite dial.

If anyone is in the know, Is this oxidation or a natural variation and if it is oxidation there anything to be done about it?

If it has what you think is oxidation, you better get it checked out, that means air/moisture

is getting in there and you will have more than the meteorite to worry about. __________________

I'll bet it is moisture thru a bad gasket.

I'd send it back to Invicta, and hope you'll see it back before the end of the year.

Hmmm if a meteorite is iron I guess it could rust? Looks more like a natural imperfection to me but it's probably still a good idea to have it checked. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but if moisture had gotten into the case wouldn't there be condensation on the inside of the crystal? I have personally seen this twice. I have a huge Invicta meteorite collection myself..

I had bought an 'old new stock' Lupah Meteorite from WorldOfWatches last year that had a brown rust spot (pretty light, but it would only get worse with time) that I returned immediately.

Also, I had one of the 7750 SAN I Meteorite Re-issues from the Thursday Sprint was really bad, with oxidation around all 3 chrono subdials! Returned it, but luckily they had a replacement available which was perfect.

EDIT: Look at your small 60 second subdial, right by the '10' second mark, it looks like it is oxidizing there too.

You best bet, is hopefully Invicta will have replacement dials for this model still.

They probably didn't do a great job sealing the dial on that one, and will get worse over time...not sure how fast though. Almost all meteroites will rust, unless sealed properly! __________________

I just recently sent my SAN meteorite into invicta for service...the watch is in my signature

pic...I have been told that it will be back in July. It is a bit nerve wracking, because the watch is one of my favorites. A mild leap of faith, but I believe in Invicta and am sure that my watch will come home, better than new.

I'm with 50mm, if that is oxidation, then definitely get in touch with Invicta for repair. Thanks for all the advice. The pics are from when I purchased the watch just over a month ago, nothing has changed in the meantime, as in it hasn't gotten worse. You can only see it when looking at it from an angle. Head on in bright light it is really barely there.

LOL, yeah I am pretty sure as I have a receipt from them for it. I would watch it for a couple months, if it gets worse send it in. Maybe Invicta can do something about it. And yes, Meteorite doe's rust. Mike, Navnuke had to send one of his Sundayrun snags because of this same reason.
