What if Shop "was no more"

Shop has taken heat for many reasons in the past, but how many of us are "Watch Geeks" and collector because of Shop and all the knowledgeable hosts that it employees. I wouldn't be here! I would have my one or two "no frills" watches that I change the oil in the car with. I must say I'm the first one in the easy chair when watch time comes on fighting my wife for the remote, laughing at what Gill, Mike, Larry, Wing...has to put up with from Jim. I know it doesn't take much for me, but yet it's fun. So I have to say thanks Shop for bring us geeks fine watches and entertainment.

What if Shop "was no more" There are countless WISs/collectors/hobbyists who've never used the Shop. As much as many enjoy it, I'm sure we'd survive. bluloo View Public Profile Send a private message to bluloo Find all posts by bluloo Add bluloo to Your Contacts #3 Yesterday, 11:03 AM Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: Tampa FLorida & Storrs Ct Posts: 1,218

I don't necessarily agree, but I understand your point. I had bought watches before I found Jim on Shop. But I would say without Jim I might not have been so immersed into it, not so much anything to do with Shop. There are other watch sites and outlets that I have used more for my hobby. __________________ You mean what time is it now? tampa8 View Public Profile Send a private message to tampa8 Find all posts by tampa8 Add tampa8 to Your Contacts #4 Yesterday, 11:09 AM Join Date: Mar 2008 Location: North East, Maryland Posts: 1,994 Real Name: Marlin

It is because of shop that I found Android and this forum. I am grateful for that, and many other things. Yep - Got stated by purchasing my first watch on ShopNBC by flipping the dial on the TV. Now I have over 100 watches in four watch towers and a wall unit. I have spent tons of money and have taken many beatdowns from the little woman for my new found adiction. "THANKS A LOT SHOPNBC" - It is all your fault. __________________

I would hate to see ShopNBC end. Of all the products they sell, I believe watches are their

most profitable item. So why not move to another cable shopping network? I'm sure they would be very happy to take them on, with the watch hosts and vendors who presently sell at ShopNBC __________________

I suppose this is going to come across as sounding like "treason", but I have to confess that, not only have I never watched "Shop" on TV, I have never ordered from them on-line or even went on-line looking for them unless somebody in here posted an addy that brought me to a particular watch that they wanted us to see... __________________

If there were no SHOP, where would I go to find out that automatics need no batteries or that Invicta bonds its gold plating on a molecular level? SHOP provides a great introduction for watch newbies and in MHO is interesting to collectors because of Jim's showmanship/knowledge and Wing's watches...I could live without SHOP, but I would prefer it stick around...

Like many of us, I discovered shop just flipping thru the channels one day -about 5 years ago. I had a minor appreication for watches, but it grew gradually watching shop. So there are 2 issues here - the knowledge from the shop hosts and vendors and then the business side of shop -ie CS. The knowledgable side is great - I think we have all learned a lot - obviously the business side needs improvement john g gen09131 View Public Profile Send a private message to gen09131 Find all posts by gen09131 Add gen09131 to Your Contacts #32 Today, 03:24 AM Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Morgantown WV Posts: 13,013 Real Name: Tommy

I found this forum independent of ShopNBC (although coincidentally I've been watching it for years and just never paid attention to Jim's mentions of this). I guess I'd buy a couple less watches here and there, but I've only bought a few from them anyway. tkromer View Public Profile Send a private message to tkromer Send email to tkromer Find all posts by tkromer Add tkromer to Your Contacts #33 Today, 07:14 AM

I bought my first watch from SNBC in 2000. Tim Temple got me hooked. There is no way I would have bought as many watches as I have now without them.

Thanks

Thanks to Shop and particularly Jim, my son (15) and I are able to spend a little more time together. My son used to ask how I could sit thru those shows but one night Jim pulled out one of his big knives to scratch test a watch while talking about shaved monkeys or something, and my son thought that was great. He only watches Jim's shows but he's getting into watches too, so I don't have to hear "what do you need all those watches for". So thank you ShopNBC and Jim!
