Produce preliminary designs, final sketches and presentation drawings. Utilize commercial and residential suggestions and specifications to create functional floor plans. Utilize an architectural drawing to estimate the cost and the materials necessary for a project. Develop technical drawings drafted by hand and computer aided drafting and design (CADD). Identify, research, develop and explain architectural and construction plans, drawings, diagrams and specifications. Draw and sketch by hand to communicate ideas effectively. Utilize CADD software to produce technical drawings and architectural proposals. Employ appropriate media to communicate concepts and design. Convey information using multi‐dimensional drawings. Create effective working drawings, and presentation drawing. Employ basic model building techniques. Maintain a portfolio to document knowledge, skills and experience in architecture. Research and Collect data that relates to architectural drafting and design Select and organize appropriate examples that demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience. Prepare and conduct effective oral presentation.

Identify and appraise the impacts construction has on their future aspirations; both career based and/or as an educated consumer. Develop career goals and objectives as part of a plan for future career direction. Develop strategies to reach career objectives. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of different types of home purchases, additions, renovations and repairs. Describe and demonstrate the procedures related to workplace and job‐site safety including personal protective equipment, machine safety, and material handling practices. Demonstrate safe material handling practices. Demonstrate and explain knowledge of workplace safety procedures.*(A2) Demonstrate and explain knowledge of personal safety practices pertaining to eye wear, footwear, clothing, and personal protective equipment (PPE) used in wood technology.*(A3) Describe safety practices for the following machines: table saw, drill press, stationary sander, router table, and miter saw.*(A4)
