Central Florida and Tampa Bay's Spring Arts Guide is Here!

Watermark has been assembling its annual arts guides for more than a decade now and I am still amazed and excited with each one, seeing the quality of entertainment we get in Central Florida and Tampa Bay. Whether it is a local performance of a classic play or one of the biggest legends in entertainment bringing their tour here, Florida is where entertainment shines.

With so much to see, it can be a bit confusing to keep track of everything you want to attend, so that is why we continue to bring you our annual Springs Arts Guide.

In these pages we have curated a list of everything from concerts to art exhibits to live theater and more. We have even highlighted a few fantastic shows we think you should definitely add to your “must see” list. From Donald Rupe’s “From Here” and the country duo Brothers Osborne to comedy icon Kathy Griffin and the queen of pop herself, Madonna; Central Florida and Tampa Bay is hosting some of the best entertainment anywhere in the world over the next six months.

Our team has searched through press releases and announcements, we have combed through websites, Facebook events, TikToks, YouTube videos and more for local arts centers, museums, theaters, venues, festivals, arenas and concert halls to bring you as complete an arts listing as we could.

Now, we were not able to include everything that Central Florida and Tampa Bay has to offer, so along with as many selections as we could fit, we have included phone numbers and websites for each of the venues, so be sure to check in with your favorite spots throughout the year to see what else is being added to their schedules.

This guide covers the Space Coast, Daytona Beach, Orlando, Lakeland, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota and all the amazing spaces in between from now to the end of the summer, so keep it handy and see as much of the local art scene as you can. You will not be disappointed. Now, as they say, on with the show!

From Here

Donald Rupe’s critically acclaimed original musical, “From Here,” is coming back to Orlando for a limited run before its 6-week OffBroadway engagement in New York City.

Set in 2016, “From Here” follows the story of Daniel, a 30-something gay man on his personal journey with life, love and family when the tragic shooting at Pulse in Orlando changes everything. The show's focus isn’t on the shooting itself, but the city’s response to the tragedy in the aftermath.

The musical debuted at the 2019 Orlando Fringe Festival and had a few limited runs in Central Florida.

An all-Orlando cast and crew will perform “From Here” at New York City's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre this summer but you’ll have a chance to see it before it heads to the Big Apple right here in The City Beautiful.

Madonna

Madonna’s Celebration Tour comes to Tampa, just one of four Florida performances before she heads to Miami. The outing is the superstar’s 12th tour but the first to feature her catalogue of work from across the 80s, 90s, 00s and beyond.

Madonna announced it in Jan. 2023, sharing that “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.”

The tour became one of the world’s fastestselling concerts, with 600,000 tickets sold in a single day. It includes multiple costume changes highlighting Madonna’s eras and over 30 celebrated songs. The staunch LGBTQ+ ally also offers up tributes to AIDS victims, New York and artists like Prince in an evening emceed by comedian and “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winner Bob the Drag Queen.

You can celebrate 40 years of the Material Girl this April, just plan for a late night.

Kathy Griffin

LGBTQ+ ally Kathy Griffin is back on the road! The two-time Emmy and Grammy award-winning comedian launched her North American tour in February to showcase her unique brand of wit via “My Life on the PTSDList.”

“I cannot wait to hit the stage and see you in your hometown," she announced last year. I’m going EVERYWHERE, people — the real America! I’m not messing around. I’ve been through hell, we’ve all been through hell! Now let’s have a good laugh about it.”

Griffin visits Tampa’s Straz Center May 16. The venue notes her “takeno-prisoners comedy has earned her a large and devoted following,” one that’s sure to fill seats.

“Do not bring the children. Do not repeat her jokes at work," they add. "But definitely make plans to see her live and enjoy an evening of outraged and outrageous hilarity.”
