In the front of the car is James Umuor extension officer in short and T-Shirt is ECS-CARD project Manager Andrew Apiny tried to removed vehicle.

 The impassable road to Ajugo remain big challenges, in November 2012 the project staff car was stacked on the way between Ajugo and Kangi when they went for community mobilization and sensitization. According to the community here, the road stays impenetrable by water mostly in July to December every year. This is why community awareness, sensitization, and registration in Ajugo were behind schedule.  The recently inter tribal conflict which erupted out in Wau had interrupted project activities. The road from Busserie to Wau town was block by the community hence the track, which carried the project tools, was block out for sometimes this result into adjournment and distribution of tools to the farmers as planned.  The slowdown of transferred the funded to the implementing partner have contributed into reduce speed implementation period as planned.

ECS-CARD Quarterly Progress Report From October, November & December 2012

 Lack of water and drinking contaminated water in the intervention areas is a major constraint not only to the community as such it also the project staff. This had limited the accessibility of the staff to project site. The other hand, the community are force to move to river site during the dry season where they are accessible to water point. This will result to delay of project implementation in this period (land preparation) because the beneficiaries will come back homes in the April to May when the rain is started Whey they actually are supposed to clear their lands in dry season in Feb, March and April and start cultivating in May on ward on their farms.  Sharing one vehicle between two partners and delay of motorbikes for the extension officers have contributed to deceleration the planned to run the project activities effectively and timely.  No demonstration plots has been identified so far as

Awiel Jadid is concern because of

political instability, there is no direct contact community leader to be consult in matter to land and lack of community plot own ship in Awiel Jadid is also another factor which made it difficult for the project staff to address.

Lesson Learnt  Based on the experiences learnt, this report recommended that

the project staff to go to

Ajugo for monitoring and evaluation motorbikes is most recommended to be used special in July to December while vehicle will be use in January to June every year.  Shortage of water and using water filters for the project staff are advisable to carry with them or else buy enough purified water whenever they go into the field.  The delay of transferred of fund in the first quarter has slowdown project activities as spelled out in the proposal, in order to speed up implementation. Fund should be made available by the Donor on timely basic to the implementing partners to speed up the implementation

ECS-CARD Quarterly Progress Report From October, November & December 2012

 Transportation: to address the issue of transport between the partners effectively, the motorbike for the extension workers should be made available as soon as possible.

 Demonstration plots, there are two way to address the issue of demonstration plots in Awiel Jadid, one to training farmers on their respectively farmers or else find demonstration plot in Koromalang though this will be challenge by distance.

Where the EC Delegation in Sudan could assist in alleviating constraints. A. Initiate peace building and reconciliation project to the host communities through effective dialogue to avoid further deterioration of security situation while addressing the root cause of the inter tribal conflict.

B. Initiate water project in the areas where there is shortage of water through drilling hand pumps in Ajugo, Kangi and provide water filter to the communities who drinking contaminated waters in order to avoid multiple go guinea warm

c. Continued supporting long-term agriculture innervations to support the livelihoods of the vulnerable and marginalized communities to mitigate the impact of the current crisis food insecurity and to be self-reliance
