EveryChild ‘We stop children growing up vulnerable and alone’
Project: + brand development + creative concept + design & layout + eco-print
ChildWorld magazine ChildWorld magazine is distributed to donors, personal and corporate sponsors, peers as well as London and overseas staff. Our brief was to create a lively and engaging magazine that would keep them all informed and interested in the work the charity carries out worldwide.
Outcome: “wave recently helped EveryChild re-launch ChildWorld, their regular magazine for supporters. They introduced a new, more colourful and user-friendly format, with snappier, punchier articles and strong use of photography and imagery. They also managed to reduce the cost of producing the magazine quite considerably. Their creative input throughout the process has been invaluable, and they have always delivered issues on time and on budget. ChildWorld has now become a powerful communications tool and EveryChild has had excellent feedback on the re-launch from supporters, trustees and staff.” Joanna Fell Marketing Communications Manager
wave has been working with EveryChild since 2003 and has been its principal design agency for five years. We have worked on annual reports, research and programme reports, direct mail campaigns, e-alerts and e-marketing, branding, stationery and posters, exhibitions and signage plus the re-design and development of their website. Our work has gradually helped move their brand forward, prompting a brand review based on our initial work on the magazine and annual reviews.

2010-2011 Prospectus The prospectus is the college’s main marketing publication to students, their parents or carers and careers advisors. wave was commissioned to develop a new design and layout that was easy to navigate, inspiring and reflected the college’s brand values.
Outcome: “The prospectus has been very favourably received by the general public, staff and students. We have had many positive comments about the design of the prospectus and feel it gives a very strong image of the college. From the initial meeting and presentation of concepts through to final delivery the team at wave has surpassed the brief and our expectations. They delivered the project on time and within budget and coped with whatever we threw at them.” Oliver Campayne Marketing and Communications Manager

National Autistic Society ‘Accept difference, Not indifference’
Project: + brand development + creative concept + design & layout + eco-print
Communication magazine Following a competitive pitch in 2004, wave was selected to undertake a full redesign, of their quarterly magazine, Communication, transforming it into a user-friendly, informative publication that would be accessible to people with autism and their families. Communication offers its readers information, support and advice on the many services that NAS has to offer. It is also used to help the organisation campaign for a better world for people with Autism.
Outcome: “I have nothing but praise for the work that wave do on Communication, the quarterly members’ magazine of the NAS. Initially, we asked wave to refresh the design and layout of the magazine, to make it more user-friendly and accessible, at the same time as updating the style and introducing colour throughout, to make it more attractive to the reader. They managed to incorporate all our practical, editorial requirements into a design that is fresh and modern, without being ‘over-designed’ or too intensely fashionable. The feedback from our readers was overwhelmingly positive and we continue to receive praise from them on the look of the magazine. Over the time we have worked with wave, they have developed their understanding of our client group. Without fail, the staff at wave are easy to work with, flexible and friendly. They always meet deadlines and ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure the magazine drops onto our members’ doormats, looking good and on time.” Miranda Kemp Editor, Communication magazine

Royal Berkshire NHS Trust ‘Working together to provide excellent healthcare for the local community and beyond’
Project: + creative concept + design & layout
Annual report The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest general hospital trusts in the country. The Trust wanted a report with an clean, uncluttered look and feel that made good use of their large image bank. By incorporating more of their established colour palette to add warmth and underline the Trust’s approachability, and to bring to the fore the patients’ experience, we aimed for a finished report that would work well for their diverse end-users funding bodies, patients, other healthcare organisations and their large membership base.
Outcome: “The team at wave were a pleasure to work with. They quickly understood what we were looking for and came up with some great ideas to ensure the annual review had a fresh look and feel to it this year. They completed the project on time and to budget and we are really pleased with the end result.” Diana Brooks Internal Communications Manager

Following EveryChild’s recent rebrand, wave was commissioned to redesign its website and create a campaign microsite, Every child deserves a family. Both sites launched in the spring of 2010 with positive effects. The main site content was completely restructured into a new CMS and polled a high 17/20 in Third Sector magazine's website review of May 2010. The microsite’s interactives have enabled hundreds of supporters to offer help to millions of vulnerable children.
Outcome: “The new website is superb – I know supporters will be wowed by what they see. I am really impressed by the commitment and work shown by the wave team. I know EveryChild is probably quite a demanding client for the budget we actually have but I hope the innovative approach we are always seeking has been as interesting and rewarding for you as it has been for us.” James Georgala Communications and Advocacy Manager

Ramblers ‘At the heart of walking’
Project: + brand development + creative concept + design & layout + photo direction
Brand application Following a recent rebrand, wave was invited to work with the Ramblers on its implementation across a wide variety of materials including advertising, magazines, information leaflets and displays. We believe that intelligent branding needn't stifle creativity but provides us with a framework within which we can produce exciting and cohesive work. And with the imagination to take the brand to new and unexpected levels, we can ensure both successful and continually stimulating projects.
Outcome: “In 2009 the Ramblers went through radical re-branding to reflect the charity moving with the times and reaching beyond its traditional membership and campaigns. During this time, we have worked very closely with the design team at wave who flawlessly understood our requirements. Not only they helped us implement our new visual identity but also made our printed materials instantly recognizable. They always have excellent ideas and it's a pleasure to work with them.” Mariusz Wilczynski Membership Marketing Officer
wave has been working with the Ramblers since 1999, developing membership materials, information and education packs, annual report, supporter magazine and print advertising.

St Michael’s Hospice ‘Quality for life, choice in care’
Project: + brand review and identity design + brand guidelines + design & layout + creative concept + eco-print and management
Brand design and implementation St Michael’s Hospice provides palliative care for people in Hastings and Rother. The Hospice was looking to refresh and renew its easily identifiable but dated corporate image and to be identified as a modern, fast moving organization that was unified, professional and accessible to the local community. A key priority was to develop a logo that would still be familiar to its many long-standing supporters and volunteers. s
Outcome: “The hospice branding was well-received in the local community. St Michael’s is a very high-profile organisation and it has continued successful fundraising campaigns with the new identity without alienating the hospice’s many stalwart supporters and volunteers who have worked on behalf of the hospice for many years. We have received repeated accolades for its look and feel and with wave’s help are implementing it across all our publications, vehicles and hospice shops.”

+About us
Our history: wave was set up in 1987 as a design co-operative to provide a professional creative service to the not-for-profit sector. This was a conscious choice for us and today we are still proud to only work with organisations such as charities, public sector organizations, co-operatives and social enterprises who are committed to positive change and who share our beliefs, our concerns and our passions.
Our difference:
For more examples of our brand work just go to our website. http://www.wave.coop/folio_brand.html
As a co-operative, wave is controlled by the people that work in it – there are no owners or shareholders. We operate a flat, non-hierarchical management structure. Furthermore, being a co-op also defines the way we operate on a daily basis, working as a team, learning from and supporting each other and developing our personal skills through practical experience.
Our values: Co-operatives are based on the values of self-help, selfresponsibility, democracy, equality, equity and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, co-operative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
