n t has been a most difficult task to articulate all of the facets of my friendship with Mr. Osvald. His intellect inspires respect and admiration; whenever I want to weigh a particular issue, I take it up with him because I know that he will examine a question from all angles (this does, however, make playing Trivial Pursuit seem interminable). His sense of humor is a source of delight; he runs the gamut from subtle wit to sophomoric gags. His genuineness and compassion are beyond value; he is a true and loyal friend. I know that I am not alone in this feeling - his players are witness to it on the court, his students are daily beneficiaries in the classroom, and anyone who has sought out his advice receives in equal measure wisdom, humor, and sincerity. In preparing to commit thoughts to paper, my mind has wandered over more than a decade of shared memories from the crowded tea rooms at Sally Lunn's where we prayed that we wouldn't knock anything over (the frightened little old ladies around us were probably equally fervent) to the Thanksgiving I flooded his apartment. (There was also an episode at the Limply Stoke . .. but there is only so much space on this page.) We have also had more stressful experiences to bind us together in common cause, such as the long nights trying to finish the quarter's comments on a shared computer. There was also the night when, without knowing about the other, we converged on the room in the basement after a student had just gashed his head (the fact that we appeared, unbidden, seemingly from thin air inspired suitable awe among the students involved). In each instance, however, I come back to the fundamental qualities that are the essence of Mr. Osvald's character. His warmth, generosity, curiosity, insight, clearheadedness, and wryness have made him an invaluable companion. Wayland would be much emptier had he not come. Sorting through the photographs, I am shocked to see how young and fresh-faced we were at the start of our Wayland careers. We could little imagine how our lives would evolve over the next eleven years (as we slowly became more and more like Waldorf and Statler heckling from the balcony). Looking back, I now know just how good the last decade has been, and that is due largely to the fact that I have Mr. Osvald as a comrade. There is more to express than can be included in this dedication, so I am afraid I will have to simply say to Mr. Osvald:Thanks for being the person that you are; I could ask for nothing more in a friend.
-Mr. Kurt Walters

have had the pleasure of getting to know PJ Osvald over the past three years. In that time, I have learned several things about him. PJ is passionate about and dedicated to Wayland. His commitment to the students in academics, dorm life, and athletics clearly shows his devotion to making Wayland Academy the best it can be. He is a loyal and genuine friend as well. It does not matter what we are discussing-golf, basketball, Star Wars, politics-he listens and cares. I am blessed to work with and have a friend like PJ Osvald.

I never thought I would be saying goodbye to the place that made me who I am today. I have so many people to thank and that I'll most likely forget, so I'm sorry in advance. I want to start off by thanking my mom and dad. They sacrificed so much just so I could come here and get a better education. Thanks for always supporting me in all my decisions and cheering me on in all my sports. There is no way to describe in words how thankful I am to have you both in my life, Thank you - I love you both so very much. To Jake my brother, who can sometimes be a pain in the ... , but I love you. You don't know how much it means it to me when you come up to see me or come pick me up from school. I love you; you're the best brother I could ever ask for. I have to thank my mentor Mr. Hill for not leaving me in my last two years and being a great coach and helping me through everything that I have been through, it means a lot. Mr. Shoop you're the coolest teacher I know and the funniest baseball coach I have ever had; thanks for everything that you have helped me with. Mr.Boucher you don't know how much you mean to me. No words can thankyou enough for everything you have done for me and my family, thank you so very much. We are the three best friends that anyone could have. Zach and Michael you've been with me for four years, thanks for always being there for me when I needed someone to lean on. I'm gonna miss you guys next year. Jordain, we have been through a lot but we have made through it. I know next year will be hard for the both of us, but I also know that we're gonna get through it. You mean everything to me. First time in my life were I am actually happy with someone. I love you with all my heart. I promise everything will be fine next year -just trust me.

When reflecting back on my four years here at Wayland I can only think of one thing: the people. The people at this place throughout my years here have been the heart and soul of my Wayland experience. Whether it was hanging out with Mark and Cristian in the basement of Wayland Hall my freshman year, enjoying every mentor lunch at Mr. Costello's table on Thursdays my sophomore year, or even eating cookies and drinking tea with Mr. Walters in his apartment my junior year every moment for me here at Wayland has been a memorable one. I would like to thank my mentors Ms. Boucher, Mr. Costello, and Ms. Moe for pushing me academically when I needed it, Ms. Krause for helping me perfect my writing skills and for giving me some good music, my friends John, Devin, Jordan, Ryan, Edgar, and Jake Davis for honestly just being great friends. I would also like to thank my mother, Denise Patrick for all she has done for me throughout my four years here at Wayland. I will miss this place dearly and never forget my time spent here at Wayland Academy.

want to dedicate this page to everyone who has helped me get to where I am today. First of all, my mom and my dad; without them I would never have known what I could accomplish. Kirstin (the unmentionable) Lardy, for the past two years you have been the yin to my yang. I don't understand why they say opposites attract, because I have never met anyone that I am so alike. I would be lost without you . You are my rock. Ann Elizabeth Schwab, ever since sophomore year you have always been there for me. With every racial slur you have thrown my way, you always know how to make my bad days better. You are honestly more than I could ever ask for. John Samuel Moran (not the third) I don't think a day has gone by in the last two years that I haven't talked to you. Whether it's trying to explain to me about basketball or attempting to play soccer, you always bring a smile to my face in a way no one else can. You mean everything to me. You've tried to stop my brilliant ideas with common sense a thousand times. Has it ever worked? -Yogi Bear

Thank you to all of my friends and their parents who have helped me out in my times of need and to all those in the Wayland community who have made it what it is. I really have learned a lot from this community and have transformed myself into a new individual.
.Memories are who we are, who we know. They must be cherished and remembered evermore. The people who we know are the people who we are. I thank all those of me, and those of them for without all, I would not be who I am today. Thank you to Mom and Dad for giving me this opportunity and to my friends for being there for me and allowing me to be there for you.
I would like to thank my parents, my mentors Mr. Nicholson and Mr. Osvald, and everyone else who helped through the years. I am very appreciative of the help everyone has given me. I am thankful for the oppertunities Wayland has given me and look forward to more in the future.

I want to thank my parents for sending me to Wayland and giving me this great High School experience. It really has been something I will never forget or take for granted. Then I want to thank Esme for simply being an amazing and fun friend , someone I can count on, and someone just to help me get through my days. You are always someone who can get me to laugh, whether I think I'm be able to or not, so thanks for all the great times! Then to Vivian, you have always able to help me see the brighter side of life, so thanks for that - you are an amazing friend as well. I'll miss the both of you so much! To Mr. Mientus, you made the past four years of choir and interesting experience, and Music Theory class too, with all the laughter and the crazy things that went on in that class. I'm definately going to miss you. Then to Mr. Walters, you have been an amazing and supportive mentor, Papa Dubs, and managed to make Euro a blast for me! I also won't forget about all the AAP <3! Things I've Learned at Wayland 1.) Let your past make you better, not bitter.
2.) The longer you wait to handle something, the harder it gets. 3.) At Wayland you are all going to have ups and you are going to have downs, but one thing that will always keep you going are the friends you make. 4.) Your memory can sometimes be your worst enemy. Never let it get you down.

For so long, I thought I disliked Beaver Dam, where the community of Wayland resides. However, at some point in my life I had to realize that Beaver Dam, where nothing but boredom and tranquility exist, IS where I feel relaxed. Wayland became not only where I study but where I find shelter. It is my home. I wish everyone felt the same. At some point in the future, I will be forgotten at this school, but it is alright, because I will never forget this school.

1) When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile. 2) The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had. 3) Always put yourself in the other person's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too. 4) The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. 5) When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us.

I trust you, I love you, and I care I care I care. Mrs. Tyranski, you are the nicest woman I've ever known. You were always my hero because you let me be your friend . Thank you for being in my corner. Bethany, Selena, Geoffrey, Emma, Terra, we were so weird and such loners, but since we were together, I guess we were never alone. Y'all had my back through everything, which is good because backs are pretty heavy and I was too lazy to carry mine. Esme, you calmed me down repeatedly when I thought the world might spin away. You are my Strawberry, my only Strawberry. Boop. Love is golden. Love, always, before anything else, Michelle

ayland Academy was honestly one of the best things that has to me. I am ready to move on to the next chapter of life, but I know I am going to miss the Wayland nity. I am very thankful for this opportunity. I would to thank my parents Randy and Tracy, and my brother Ben as well for being there for me throughout the way. But most of all, I thank God for blessing me with all of these things.
In the words of Red Forman; "When I die I'd like to be buried face down. So that anyone who doesn't like me can kiss my .. . " well, I can't really finish that but if you know me, you know I want to. Just kidding! (Mostly) To those of you who have interacted with me at this school, thank you for making my time here something to remember. And to those actually close to me, aka Ms. Boucher, the best mentor in the world, my best friends, my mentor group, and of course my parents, sister, and grandma, THANK YOU! Thank you for dealing with my craziness, my freak outs, my general lack of control over my volume, and for keeping me sane while dealing with this crazy place we call a school.

Wayland has made me into the girl I am today. My dedicated teachers have taught me more than just what was on the syllabus. My family has all given me the unconditional love that continues to inspire me. My mentor became more than just that. And my friends gave me the laughs which made it all easier. I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. Dear Wayland, For the three years I have been here, it has changed my perspective on my career path and also has shown who I am. I want to be so thankful for MY PARENTS. They have given me an opportunity to achieve high academic standards and to push myself. I didn't on ly push myself into having good grades but also getting to meet new people. On the first day of school I remember waking up at 6 AM to someone that I just met, Jordan Robberts. He asked if he cou ld wear one of my dress shirts and one of my ties. Ever since then I have become close friends with Jordan. I am also going to mi ss the moments of living in Wayland Hall. Every weekend I li ved with Luke Bacci and Michael Vaubel. They a lways had FOOD! We always watched movies at night, and, if remember correctly, mine and Michael's favorite movie was probably "Happy Gi lmore" . We had memorized every single line that every actor said in the movie. Wayland has inspired me to go after my career passion, Coaching Basketball. I want to thank Mr.Osvald, because he allowed me to work with his program in my junior year. Within that year coaching I was Mr.Yankay's Assistant Coach for JV White Boys Basketball. I want to thank him for allowing to me start my career. In my senior year I was able to create even more of a passion for coaching by worki ng with Mr. Houdek. He has taught me that basketball is not just winning or losing. It isn't just about the game, but it is also about life. The game teaches you never to give up, to work hard, and success wil l happen. Who I am today is because Wayl and has touched me and blessed me with AMAZING opportunities, and friends. Don't ever take Wayland for granted. Here is a quote that I truly believe in and fo llow in the sense of a life quote. You can't do anything alone.
We all need help in the world so remember this: "A basketball team is like the five fingers on your hand. If you can get them all

First and foremost, Mom and Dad, you two have provided me with all of the tools necessary for me to become a successful and happy gentleman. You have always been there to support, teach, and parent me. I also want to thank all of my coaches, teachers, classmates, and other faculty members. Mr. Hill , you have been a great coach and unofficial mentor through the years-helping me become a positive leader. Mr. Osvald, thank you for mentoring, coaching, and teachi ng me well with your genial personality. Mr. Walters, I was only able to spend one year living with you in Wayland Hall, but you've taught me so much and for that, I thank you. Alessandra, thank you for always being there for me. I am so happy that you finally chose to be my girlfriend, and I cannot thank you enough for giv ing me such a great year! Michael , Colin , Bacci, and Jake, thanks for being great friends. I have had a lot of good times and memories with you guys. Attending Wayland was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Thanks again to everyone!

Wayland has been a wonderful experience for me, well, most of it. I am going to miss all of my friends and the fun times we had even if we were being stupid. I will never forget them and I love you all a ton. Most importantly I would love to thank my wonderful mother for putting up with me for my high school years because honestly, if I were her, I know I wouldn't have made it this far. Thank you mom for all you have done to make my life better - I love you. I would like to thank my teachers for helping me along my journey, and I wish luck to everyone next year.

My parents: Thank you for everything, from the large to the seemingly small things, that you have done for me. Ms. Krause: You've been a great mentor this past year. Thank you for never getting too offended when I sat in the back of the chapel. Ms. Moe: Thank you for trying to fix my many odd injuries during swim seasons and only sternly telling me to quit talking during Pre-Calculus. Mr. Borrud: Thank you for instilling a love of German and different cultures in me and for always appreciating hard work and dedication no matter how many times you had to explain what the dative case was . Ms. Carpenter: The location of your pew in the chapel may have been what drew me to you in the first place, but thank you for being the best second mentor to me this year. Thank you to all my friends, especially AES, MAT, CAG, YEP, TLV, NJL and JLN.

To Mom and Dad, thank you for dealing with my stressful life, always believing in me, and helping me through all the ups and the downs. You mean more to me than I can ever express. To Ms. Boucher, thank you for being an incredible mentor. I don't know what I would have done without all the talks and advice. To Meredith, you are the best "little" sister I could ask for. Don't ever change- I love you for the crazy, funny, apolitical person you are. And to my friends , you have made these last four years so much fun and have helped me get through even the toughest weeks. I am really going to miss all the conversations and laughs next year.

Four years have gone by fast, but I've appreciated it all. This has been a great experience for me to be here with everyone. The usual thanks to my parents for raising me the way they did, making me who I am today. I love both of you so much, and I appreciate all the support you have given me no matter what I did. Eric, you're the man. You're the best brother ever and I am actually going to miss you as I go off to college. Stay strong and always look for the good in things, and you have to protect little sis next year, which I know you will. To my friends Luke, Zack, Jake, Mihai, and others, you guys made this place so fun, and I wouldn't have made it this far without you guys. There are so many memories that will be left here, and I will never forget our crazy times. Love you guys. One more thing, freshman year 4th quarter: Jake John, and-somewhere in this world-Randy Yang. Best quarter of Wayland by far. That will stay with me forever. Matt Bruning you are a bum.

Dad and Mom: Thanks for always striking the perfect balance between pushing me and supporting me. I appreciate everything that you have done for me over the last four years; from standing in the freezing cold to watch me ski to making bad situations humorous. Leah: I will eternally blame you for my backpack not being where I put it. I hope you enjoy Wayland as much as I did and want to thank you for being the coolest little sister. Friends: I am really going to miss you all. You guys have made Wayland a special place for me. I love all of you guys and hope that we can continue to make memories. I hope all of you know that wherever I am, I am always there for you. Wayland Community: As Albert Einstein said, "If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts".

Woot, Yearbook.
Seniors, we have made it.
THANK YOU! The yearbook is a huge project. It does not get done by one person or even one class . It takes the entire community's cooperation to document the year properly. For this, we thank you . Thank you for attending events and for doing fun and interesting things on campus for us to cover. Thank you for giving us pictures when we needed them, for smiling when we take pictures , and for not running and hiding when you see a camera. You make the yearbook more fun, interesting, and real. Seriously, thank you. I would especially like to thank Mr. Cheek & Mr. Lennertz for their support of the yearbook. Mr. Walters & Mr. Houdek for their help with the Dedication. Anne Rauschert for her beautiful photos . Dr. Lake for her amazing editing eye and calming presence. ,., MS. BOUCHER
