ORIENTATION 19.82 It's the first day at Wayland Academy for over 200 student s and you are one of them . To help you @et to know people and to help them get to know you as well, we, the old students and faculty, organize and put y0u through orientation. Scaling 12 foot walls without climbing equipment, p lacing about 80 pairs of your shoes in a large box and having you find your own pair and put them on, or maybe you liked the huge game of Simon-Sez. All these games and more are included in the first day at school. After all this fun shared with every new face, how could anyone feel an outsider for t he first day of classes? After all, you now have one thing in common with everyone on campus . . . you're sore!

ACTION WEEKEND

Every year we .set a weekend aside for everyone to forget their ctaUy .schedule and relax or go for .some new action. This action may range from rock-climbing, to camping, sailing, or just going to Madison for two days to catch up on some new movies. Whatever the case, it's a ton of fun and you may never be the same again after proving to yourself that you can climb hundreds of feet up the face of a rock and overcome your fear of heights!

Spirit Week was ... fancy floats, wonderful windows, beautiful buildings, legal Levis, and classy colors. Spirit Week was ... Getting together with friends. Spirit Week was ... concluded with a rowdy pep rally on Friday night. The Seniors masqueraded as beach bums, the Juniors hid behind dark glasses and trench coats, the Sophomores and the Freshmen ... well ... they came as the Sophomores and the Freshmen!

Parents Weekend was ... a welcome relief after the spirited week. It is always nice to have mom and dad witness your spectacular touchdown, spike-or whatever it is you do best . Parents Weekend was ... the Homecoming Dance, presided over by the King, Glenn Westlake and the Queen, Ruth Daily . The court in attendance consisted of Senior, LaRena Hatch and escort Stuart Cushman, Junior Bobbie Whitehouse and escort Matt Glunz, Sophomore Becky Vandenberg and escort Phil Buchanan, and Freshman Beth Benedict with escort Dave Towner . Parents Weekend was .. . concluded by the cancellation of Monday classes . SURPRISE! SURPRISE!!
