As 2024 winds down, it was wonderful to come together and celebrate the season of giving and sharing in the spirit of fellowship with the Department of Biology, Environmental Science, and Health Science.
The heartfelt gratitude felt during our Christmas gathering was genuinely moving. The participation of our faculty, staff, and students made the event unforgettable, whether through creating beautiful no-sew fleece blankets for Project Linus or showcasing creativity in the cookie decorating contest. It was inspiring to see our department unite for a meaningful cause while spreading holiday cheer.
A special thank-you goes to Adrienne Tharp, Assistant Dean of Student Development, and her incredible team for generously providing the materials for the no-sew fleece blankets. Your contribution enabled us to come together and make a positive impact through this meaningful service project
In Spring 2023, we established a collaboration with Penn West University’s cadaver anatomy faculty, creating a unique and impactful learning experience for our students. This partnership allows Health & Exercise Science Program students, alongside the Master of Science, Athletic Training, to engage in hands-on sessions with cadaver anatomy, providing an unparalleled opportunity to deepen their understanding of medical and anatomical structures. This initiative is designed to enhance students' appreciation of the human body's complexities critical knowledge for advancing in healthcare. We are thrilled to offer this distinctive modality to prepare our students for their future careers better!
Resident Mentors, also known as RM's, are leaders and community builders within the residence halls here on campus. RM's serve an important role in the halls as role models & resources for residents and have opportunities to work on a staff where they can develop themselves both professionally and personally. RM's also receive a living stipend of $4,200 towards their room and board for their work throughout the year.
If they are interested in learning more about the position and what it entails, we would love for them to join us on Wednesday, January 15th at 9:00 pm on the 3rd floor of Stover for the Resident Mentor Interest Meeting.
