SINGAPORE A cultural crossroads set at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, the city-state of Singapore is a mesmerizing melting pot of Chinese, Indian, Malay and other ethnicities. Towering skyscrapers, slender minarets, grand Colonial buildings and colorful Hindu shrines comprise a diverse waterfront blend of modern sophistication and Old World charm.

PHUKET Thailand This idyllic island in the Andaman Sea arches up from long, sunny beaches to a hilly jungle interior misted by waterfalls. In between, cultural and natural attractions include storied Buddhist temples, the Butterfly Garden, the Aquarium, and the Sea Shell Museum with the most extensive and extraordinary collection of shells in the world. Marine adventures await for snorkeling and scuba diving enthusiasts—both expert and novice alike—in cliff-sheltered coves or Haad Nai Yang National Park, where Phuket’s largest coral reef lies in shallow water only 460 feet (140 m) from the shore. Or, enjoy such activities as sea kayaking, horseback Lovely riding or Indian woman golf. Then, perhaps, unwind with a therapeutic traditional Thai massage in this spa oasis.

YANGON Myanmar Known as the Golden Land, Myanmar is an exciting new frontier for travelers. With over a millennium of Buddhist civilization, it is one of the least Western-influenced countries in the world. Once one of Asia’s most inaccessible countries, its fascinating temples are now open to foreign visitors. At the heart of Yangon, the former capital, is the sacred Shwedagon Pagoda which dominates the skyline. Legend cites that it was built more than 2,500 years ago. The spire of the great stupa is gilded with more than eight tons of gold and crowned with inlaid topaz, sapphires, rubies, diamonds and one large emerald. Step into Chaukhtatgyi Temple and marvel at a colossal reclining Buddha. The National Museum is home to a magnificent Lion Throne. It also showcases intriguing cultural exhibits of indigenous costume, jewelry, music, song and dance, wood carvings and paintings.

KOCHI India Surrounded by fields of ginger, coffee and aromatic cardamom, the ancient spicetrading port of Kochi is believed to be the intended destination of Columbus’ first quest. The city’s architectural style is a conglomerate of influences from the 400-year-long colonial period when the Portuguese, Dutch and British wrestled for control of this Queen of the Arabian Sea. Admire the Basilica of Santa Cruz with its handsome neoclassical facade, the Safai Jami Mosque, the blue-and-white Cantonese tile floor of the Synagogue, and the Dutch Palace where India’s finest Hindu frescoes and ceremonial costumes are on display.

Dubai

DUBAI United Arab Emirates

MUMBAI India The rugged ridges of the Western Ghats loom in the distance as the ship approaches Mumbai’s bustling harbor. India’s vibrant commercial capital, lined with palm-fringed beaches, was founded in the 17th century by Portuguese and British colonists on an archipelago of seven small islands dotted with fishing villages. Enter the city under the Gateway of India, a massive honey-colored basalt structure that commemorates the visit of King George and Queen Mary in 1911. Feel the pulse of the kaleidoscopic street life in the bazaars. Admire stately Victoria Terminus, a domed Gothic masterpiece guarded by statues of an Imperial lion and an Indian tiger. Gandhi’s life is portrayed in a series of dioramas at the tree-shaded Mani Bhavan museum, his modest two-storey home in Mumbai. On nearby Elephanta Island, explore sacred seventh century cave temples carved into the hillside in honor of the Hindu god, Shiva.

Once the home of Bedouin traders and pearl divers, Dubai is now the fastest growing city in the world. One of the seven oil-rich emirates, it has fashioned islands in the sea and shaped them into a great palm tree and globe. This Arabian playground welcomes visitors with the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab, or Tower of the Arabs, the tallest hotel in the world soaring upward from white sands to 1,060 feet (323 m) high. Dubai offers every imaginable indulgence from camel rides in the desert and belly dancing performances to leviathan upscale shopping malls anchored by indoor ski slopes. Yet, underneath its sleek mirrored skyline, time-honored Arab culture can still be found in the glittering gold markets and scented spice souks. Hear the call to prayer echoing through the streets from the majestic Jumeirah Mosque and relax on a cruise down the Khor Dubai, or Dubai Creek, that threads its way through the city. NOTE: Ports are subject to change due to operational conditions.
