Physical Dependence On Alcohol
Y
OU MAY DENY YOU ARE PHYSICALLY DEPENDENT ON ALCOHOL.
But if you are honest with yourself, you will realize that you have to drink larger amount to get the same relaxation or calm feeling that a small dose used to provide you. You may also notice that when you decide to stop drinking or cut back on the amount you are already getting used to, you find yourself unable to do so. Even if you do just for a while, you will feel uncomfortable. Such as shaking, sweating, nausea or other withdrawal symptoms. Then to comfort yourself immediately, you went back to your drinking habits. Good short-term but bad long-term as your back-to-habits actions resulted in vicious cycle of always giving excuses why you can’t give up alcohol addiction instead of taking action to stop it. 3

Y
OU MAY THINK YOUR DRINKING PROBLEM AS ALCOHOLISM.
Or you may prefer to call it something else such as alcohol use, alcohol addiction or dependence. Whichever the case, what you call it is not as important as what drinking is doing to you. The devastating impact alcohol is having on your own body may not be noticeable right away. But when you drink over a period of time, alcohol may be in the process of damaging almost every organ in your body. Alcohol can cause a wide variety of problems. Heavy drinking increases your risk of blood clots, which can lead to stroke or heart attack. 4

liver cirrhosis. It basically means scarring of the liver to the point that it no longer functions properly and may ultimately fail. If you develop cirrhosis, symptoms you may experience include tremors, pain and confusion. Drinking heavily can cause digestive problems and you may develop gastritis or ulcers. Many people who drink too much will rather drink to eat and ended up being malnourished. Their health gets affected, their relationships with their loved ones and friends get affected and ultimately they ended up so sick that they have to be treated at hospital and worse-case scenario, they ended up losing their lives. 6

Getting Started
T
RUTH BEING SAID, EVEN EXCESSIVE DRINKERS THEMSELVES WONDER
why they keep binge drinking or feel compelled to drink daily. One of the first steps to give up drinking is to understand why you drink in the first place. Which is not really complicated but whether you want or not. Most problems are centered on the way you think, see and feel. Failures, health, relationships, studies, wealth and work are the common reasons from my experience and others from their conversations. If they are not managed properly, it resulted in strong emotions of resentment, jealousy, frustration and anger. And for people who are not good in expressing themselves verbally, they resort to drinking as relief either of their choice or being influenced by friends. 9
