The View of the Manager WITH Russell Leadbetter Only taking 6 points in October makes me feel glad to see the back of it if I’m honest. Another three points from the games we played and I would have been happy with the month considering we played 3 top sides in West Didsbury, IOM and Cheadle Town. Very similar to September where we did the same thing. Consistency is proving to be really difficult for us, whether that’s getting the same team out, scoring goals consistently, or making stupid mistakes, and gifting teams’ easy free goals. I can’t say the lads aren’t working hard because they are, and consistency isn’t something that can be coached into a team. I think signing Copey is probably the best thing about October along with the derby win at Ecce with 10 men. He got a goal in his first game, and I think him along with other lads up front he will get a few more and so will they. We just need other contributors and to stop gifting teams easy soft goals that they aren’t even working for. I’d be happy with 8 points from November looking at the fixtures considering our away form. We will do our utmost to bring more though and hopefully a good performance/result against Stoke in the cup.

CLUB HISTORY Abbey Hulton United Football Club was formed 73 years ago in 1947, making it one of the oldest formed clubs still playing Saturday football in North Staffordshire. During its very early days the club played on Council land in the Abbey Hulton area. It continued to use this facility for the first 15 years, despite the fact that the changing facilities were more than a mile away from the actual pitch. In 1962 it was decided that the team should move to the Parks facility at Bucknall Park which was complete with its own changing rooms and showers adjacent to the pitch. What a luxury. The team continued to use Bucknall Park for another 23 years, until 1985. During the period from 1947 to 1985 the team played in many local junior leagues such as: • The Longton League • Fenton and District League • Burslem and Tunstall League • Newcastle and District League They graced all the above leagues with great distinction. Over the years the club became more financially stable and grew in ambition. Finally in 1985 they acquired a piece of land at Birches Head Road on which it was able to obtain a 99 year lease. This is the clubs current address. Immediately, a clubhouse was built containing a bar and changing rooms for both teams and officials. At the same time an outside 5 a-side football facility was built, complete with floodlights. Having moved to this new facility the club opted to join the North Staffs Alliance League. It completed in this leauge before seeking election to one of the top leagues in the area, The Staffs County League (North), in 1987. The team played in this league and finally had a momentous season in 1997-1998 by winning the league, the cup and also the fair play award all in one season. Having achieved this feat the club applied to join what is the top junior league in North Staffordshire, the Staffordshire County Senior League. In 2017 Abbey Hulton United won the Staffordshire County Senior Premier League Championship and were promoted to the North West County Football League.

Chairman's Corner Good evening everyone and welcome to Abbey Hulton United fc to join us on a fantastic night. Tonight’s cup tie allows us the great pleasure of welcoming Stoke City FC to Drayton Beaumont Park in this most prestigious cup competition. This fixture in the Staffordshire Senior Challenge Cup is a fantastic occasion for our club allowing us to host a club of Stoke City stature here at Drayton Beaumont Park. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors that support our club allowing us to keep on pushing forward making these fantastic nights possible.

I want to also give a special mention and massive thankyou to our clubs ground sponsor Drayton Beaumont who aswel as continually sponsoring our club have also sponsored this years Senior Challenge Cup competition.

We’ve also got some more great news that will continue to help our club growing. We are very pleased to announce that we have now Secured the official lease of the old Milton United FC ground on Leek Road. This site in now officially our clubs second site allowing us to give our junior teams a ground they can call home. They can now play from there instead of having to travel all over the city to use other pitches and they can have pride in playing on their own fantastic pitch. Can I finish off with thanking everyone for your continued support to our club and hopefully tonight will be a great game of football for us all to enjoy Regards, Lee Savage Chairman Abbey Hulton United FC

Welcome to stoke city fc Stoke City's remarkable list of home-grown players through the years is one that the Club is very proud of. From the likes of Sir Stanley Matthews, Freddie Steele and Neil Franklin, the local back four of the 1970s, through to players such as Andy Wilkinson, Ryan Shotton and Tom Edwards, the Potters have always been keen to nurture local talent. City have entered youth teams in competitive games for many years, including the inaugural FA Youth Cup tournament in 1952. After two semi final appearances in 1955 and 1961, the Club reached the final in 1984, whilst also going on to lift the Midland Melville Cup in 1996. Following on from the move to the bet365 Stadium in 1997, the next priority was to improve the standard of facilities for producing stars of the future. A specialised dome was built nearby on Trentham Lakes and the Club were granted Academy status by the FA Premier League in 1999. As a result, teams were entered into specialised Under-19 and Under-17 leagues, with those then becoming the Under-18 and Under-16 divisions following a restructure in 2004. Further changes were announced in 2012 by the Premier League with the implementation of its Elite Player Performance Plan. As part of the EPPP, an additional Under 21s and subsequent Under-23s league were introduced with the aim to bridge the gap between the first team and Academy levels. The Potters were granted Category One status as part of the shake-up following significant investment by the Coates family, thus boosting prospects of achieving sustained success at the highest level in the long term future.
