Communicator JUNE 2018

Excellence. For Each and Every Student.

From the Superintendent By Superintendent CHACE B. ANDERSON

IT’S HARD TO believe we’re at the end of another school year...and what a year it has been. I would like to take a moment to thank you as a community for all you have done to make a difference in the lives of our students and families. On June 1, 833 students graduated from Wayzata High School. It is always a highlight of my year to share remarks with graduates and their parents. I would like to share part of a message I shared with graduates. “Something that is really neat about graduating from high school is you get a brand new canvas upon which to paint your future. And knowing you like we do, we are confident that you are well-prepared to create something pretty special. Some of the positive things that will come your way will be due to good luck and by simply being in the right place at the right time. However, the great majority of your successes will come from hard work and by embracing and turning your shortcomings into advantages. Most importantly, don’t ever succumb to lowered expectations that others might hold for you. Prove them wrong. Work hard to tune up the areas you wish to strengthen. Seek ways to make a difference each and every day.” We are grateful to our community for providing the foundation that makes it possible for our students to create their future. Thank you for your loyal support of our school district and our young people. We appreciate our partnerships with organizations, businesses and individuals throughout our community who are always there for us and ready to offer your time and talents. As always, I welcome your thoughts and questions at chace.anderson@wayzataschools.org.
