Absolutely Abdominal

We have become a nation of professional sitters, causing lower body muscles to weaken and sag. In this workshop you will: learn Janice’s “10 Minute Miracle Exercise” series to strengthen lower body muscles quickly and, in the process, increase metabolism and bone density; decrease 2 inches off saddlebag area in 2 weeks; trim inches off lower body by getting rid of excess water weight; practice a breathing technique to stimulate fat metabolism; and find acupressure points for lymph circulation and drainage. If you don’t have the time, money or inclination to haul yourself to the gym several times a week, you will love these powerful and effective techniques. Bring a mat to class. $3 supply fee is payable to instructor at class - bring exact amount please.

We all have four layers of abdominal muscles, each with fibers running in a different direction. This criss-crossing pattern shapes your midsection and supports the lower back. There are many reasons why the abs can weaken and “lose shape”: past pregnancies, abdominal surgery, sitting for hours a day at a desk, just to name a few. Learn how to strengthen all four layers of ab muscle, reshape your waistline and check overstretched abdominal connective tissue from pregnancies. (If you have this issue, it will change how you do abdominal exercises.) Get a tummy tuck without surgery and find relief from lower back discomfort to boot! Learn how to strengthen and flatten your abdomen quickly, effectively and in a very functional way. Come in loose clothing and be prepared to exercise. Bring a mat.

Money Matters for Mature Adults Retiring? Now What? Retirement can be a scary, lifechanging time. With some thought and planning, it can be a very rewarding and enjoyable time of life. If you are retired or are considering retirement, take this class and discover the myriad opportunities that await you. Subjects covered include adding meaning to life, filling the 8 or 10 hours a day that you used to work, traveling, learning new things, volunteerism, hobbies, interesting leisure activities, creative pursuits, physical well-being, starting a business, getting social, downsizing, and other thought-provoking subjects. #RETIRE-W1-13 Tuesday, Feb. 5 7:00 - 8:30 pm $25 for 1 class Central Middle School - A201 Ron Timm

Managing Health Care Expenses in Retirement If you are a baby boomer, this is what you need to know about Medicare and long-term care! Fifty-seven percent of baby boomers said they had a “poor understanding” or know “almost nothing” about Medicare, according to a recent survey by Bankers Trust. Threequarters of boomers did not know that most Americans on Medicare pay premiums, copays, and deductibles. One in seven thought Medicare was free. Only 14% knew that Medicare does not cover long-term care. We will learn about: how Medicare enrollment periods work — and what you need to do to avoid late-enrollment penalties; how much you can expect to pay in health care costs after going onto Medicare; how Medicare works with private insurance to provide comprehensive coverage; why most people pay too much for private insurance and how you can avoid excess costs; and why you must plan for higher health care costs in retirement — including the possibility of needing long-term care.

Savvy Social Security Planning For Boomers: What Everyone Should Know Student quote: “A helpful, well-organized presentation given by an instructor with good presentation skills and very strong command of the subject. I would recommend this course and instructor to a friend - and I couldn’t offer much higher praise.” Boomers are asking: Will Social Security be there for me? How much can I expect to receive and when should I apply for it? How can I maximize my benefits? Will Social Security be enough to live on in retirement? The decisions you make today will influence the total Social Security benefits you will receive in your lifetime. Learn the 5 factors to consider when deciding when to apply for benefits: when it makes sense to delay benefits and when it does not; why you should always check your end-of-the-year earnings for accuracy; how to estimate your benefits; how to coordinate benefits with your spouse; how to minimize taxes on your Social Security; and how to coordinate Social Security with your other sources of retirement income. The class is for everyone who thinks they might want to retire some day.
